Note: As I am on Holiday, it’s a little hard to make the same content as I usually would, simply because I don’t have as much free time! However, I still wanted to put an article out there (this will be a common theme until Friday), so enjoy a more “bitesize” Roundup of the weekend’s Premier League action!
Manchester City 5-1 Burnley

Manchester City made their intentions clear with a thumping victory over Burnley! Manchester City were gifted the lead inside 12 minutes thanks to a Maxime Esteve own goal, but it was Burnley who got back on level terms in the 38th minute through Jaidon Anthony! In the 61st minute, Man City were back in front through Matheus Nunes, and it was 3-1 soon after as Esteve scored his second own goal of the day! And then, in the 90th minute, Erling Haaland finally got his goal, before the big Norwegian added a second in additional time! Overall, this was nice and simple from Manchester City! City rise to 7th in the league, and they will go to Monaco tomorrow, before they face Brentford on Sunday! As for Burnley, this wasn’t part of the plan! The Clarets drop inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th), and they head to Aston Villa next time out!
Chelsea 1-3 Brighton

A superb Brighton and Hove Albion stunned 10-man Chelsea at Stamford Bridge! After 24 minutes, Chelsea had the lead through Enzo Fernandez, and it was all looking good for the hosts until the 53rd minute, when Trevoh Chalobah was shown a straight red card for the denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity! In the 77th minute, Brighton were back on level terms through Danny Welbeck, and the visitors had their winner in the 92nd minute thanks to Maxim De Cuyper! Oh, and to top it off, Welbeck added another goal in the 100th minute; what a statement! In the end, it’s another poor defeat for Chelsea! The Blues drop to 8th in the league, and they have important home games coming up against both Benfica and Liverpool! As for Brighton and Hove Albion, this was a superb result for them! The Seagulls rise to 10th in the table, and they head to Wolves next time out!
Brentford 3-1 Manchester United

Brilliant Brentford pulled out a crucial win over a helpless Manchester United! It only took Brentford 8 minutes to find themselves in front through Igor Thiago, and Thiago was clearly feeling it as he scored again to make it 2-0 after just 20! 6 minutes later, Manchester United were able to get themselves back into the game as Benjamin Sesko finally got his goal, and the big turning point then came in the second half when Manchester United were awarded a penalty! However, Bruno Fernandes missed for the second time this season, seeing his effort saved by Caoimhin Kelleher, before Mathias Jensen sealed the win for Brentford in the 95th minute! Overall, this is more like it from Brentford! The Bees rise to 13th in the league, and they host Manchester City next time out! As for Manchester United, they’re offering nothing! United drop to 14th in the table, and their next game is a big one at home to Sunderland!
Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham

Aston Villa came from behind to pick up an important win over Fulham! After just 3 minutes, it was Fulham who found themselves in front through Raul Jimenez, but their lead was broken in the 37th minute as Ollie Watkins scored his first goal of the season! In the 49th minute, Villa took the lead through John McGinn, and Emiliano Buendia then added a third just 2 minutes later! Overall, this was a much-needed victory for Aston Villa! Villa rise to 16th in the table, and they have to travel to Feyenoord on Thursday, followed by a home game against Burnley! As for Fulham, they simply weren’t good enough here! The Cottagers drop to 11th in the league, and they head to Bournemouth next time out for this weekend’s Friday Night Football!
Leeds 2-2 Bournemouth

A last-gasp equaliser denied Leeds United a great win over AFC Bournemouth! After 26 minutes, Bournemouth had the lead thanks to a superb free-kick by Antoine Semenyo, only for Joe Rodon to head home an equaliser 11 minutes later! 9 minutes into the second half, and Leeds had the lead as Sean Longstaff bagged an important goal! However, in a game that ended up creating a lot of chances, it was Bournemouth who had the last laugh, scoring a 93rd-minute equaliser through Eli Junior Kroupi to break the home fans’ hearts! In the end, conceding so late must be gutting for Leeds United! Leeds now find themselves 12th in the table, and they host Tottenham next time out! As for AFC Bournemouth, at least they didn’t lose! The Cherries drop to 6th in the league, and their next game sees them host Fulham this Friday Night!
Crystal Palace 2-1 Liverpool

It was the late, late show in South London as a 97th-minute winner meant Crystal Palace ended Liverpool’s perfect start to the season whilst also leaving them as the only unbeaten team left in the league! Crystal Palace had the lead inside 9 minutes through Ismaila Sarr, and they really should’ve added more before halftime! However, because they failed to take their chances, Liverpool were able to get themselves back on level terms late on (the 87th minute to be exact) thanks to another important goal by Federico Chiesa! However, in the 97th minute, Liverpool got hit with a taste of their medicine as Eddie Nketiah snatched a dramatic late-winner for Palace! Overall, what a great win this is for Crystal Palace! The Eagles rise to third in the table, and they will kick-start their Conference League campaign at Dynamo Kyiv Thursday Night before they head to Everton! As for Liverpool, you can’t say that this hasn’t been coming! The Reds still remain top of the league, however, and they face Galatasaray tonight followed by a big game at Chelsea!
Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal

Gabriel’s 96th-minute winner ensured a crucial late win for Arsenal (at the expense of Newcastle United)! After Viktor Gyokeres got his penalty call overturned by VAR, it was Newcastle who took the lead after 34 minutes courtesy of Nick Woltemade! Newcastle then continued to lead for the large majority of the game, but that changed when Mikel Merino headed home an 84th-minute equaliser! And then, in the 96th minute, Arsenal had their winning goal as Gabriel headed home to end the game in dramatic fashion! In the end, Newcastle United will be very disappointed to have lost this game from the position they were in! The Magpies drop to 15th in the table, and they head to Union St.Gilloise tonight, followed by another home league game, this time against Nottingham Forest! As for Arsenal, this was a really important win for them! The Gunners remain second in the league, and their next two games are both at home against Olympiacos and West Ham!
Tottenham 1-1 Wolves

The late, late show continues as Tottenham Hotspur netted a 94th-minute equaliser to break Wolverhampton Wanderers’ hearts! After a nothing first half, things were starting to look really good for Wolves as Santiago Bueno netted the game’s opening goal! However, it just wasn’t meant to be for the visitors as Joao Palhinha scored in the 94th minute to rescue a point for Tottenham! In the end, at least Tottenham Hotspur picked up 1 point (they still should be doing better, though)! Spurs drop to 4th in the table, and they will face Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League tonight, followed by an away trio to Leeds! As for Wolverhampton Wanderers, this is a positive point for them, but the 3 points would’ve been massive! Wolves remain bottom of the league, and they host Brighton next time out!
Everton 1-1 West Ham

Nuno Espirito Santo started his West Ham United career with a draw away at a disappointing Everton! Everton had the lead inside 18 minutes through Michael Keane, but it ultimately wouldn’t last as Jarrod Bowen became the first away player to score at the Hill Dickinson Stadium with a 65th-minute equaliser! In the end, these are the types of games that Everton should be winning, so this isn’t that great of a result! The Toffees now find themselves 9th in the league, and they host Crystal Palace next time out! As for West Ham United, this is a good start for them under Nuno! The Hammers remain inside the Relegation Zone (in 19th), and their next game is a tough one away at Arsenal!
Nottingham Forest 0-1 Sunderland

Sunderland AFC kept up their incredible start to their Premier League season as Ange Postecoglou once again came up short with Nottingham Forest! Even though Nottingham Forest created double the amount of chances as Sunderland, it was the visitors who grabbed the one and only goal as Omar Alderete scored their winning goal in the 38th minute! Once again, Keeper Robin Roefs stared! In the end, Ange is really struggling with his Nottingham Forest side! Forest drop to 17th in the table, and they have a big week incoming against both Midtjylland and Newcastle! As for Sunderland AFC, they just keep on picking up points! The Black Cats rise to 5th in the league, and they head to Manchester United next time out!
