Piastri Wins After Delayed Start

After the start of the Race was delayed for an hour and 20 minutes, it was Oscar Piastri who cleared Lando Norris down the Kemmel straight on the opening lap to take a crucial victory in his pursuit of the Championship! Lando Norris had to settle for second after making one-too many mistakes, whilst it was Charles Leclerc who completed the Podium for Ferrari!

The Biggest Talking Points

Well, as always around Spa, the rain proved to be a little too heavy when it came to impacting visibility as the drivers complained about a lack of being able to see anything, and this resulted in the Race start being suspended. 1 hour and 20 minutes later, and we were finally getting going under a Safety Car before we had a rolling start! At the restart, it was Oscar Piastri who got a much better launch to slingshot his way past Lando Norris into Turn 5 as the rest of the field stayed relatively similar! There was a clear lack of grip out on track, the lap times showed that, but it was still drying out quite a lot to the point that Lewis Hamilton was the first to gamble on a set of slicks! This worked out brilliantly for the 7-time World Champion, with Lewis rising all the way up to 7th after everyone else had made their switch to dry tyres! Out in front, the two McLarens were too close to double stack, meaning Norris went a lot longer than Piastri, but opted for a set of hard tyres to try and gain track position later in the Race!

Unfortunately for Lando, Oscar didn’t seem to have much intent on pitting, saying he’d get his medium tyres to the end too! This then played out as you would expect; Norris gained on Piastri as his tyres became better as the Race went on, but he simply didn’t have enough laps! However, having said that, Lando Norris did make a few too many mistakes, and it cost him! Elsewhere, Andrea Kimi Antonelli was having a torrid time of things, he couldn’t clear Esteban Ocon despite the massive tyre advantage, Yuki Tsunoda was also struggling massively as he dropped out of the points completely, whilst Alex Albon did a super job to keep Lewis Hamilton at bay as Max Verstappen failed to catch Charles Leclerc!

The Standout Drives in the Race

I’ve given out two 10’s for the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix and the first one is obviously for Oscar Piastri! Oscar mastered the differing conditions today, he was sublime at the start, kept his medium tyres in really good condition, and fully merited today’s victory! The other driver I’ve given out maximum points to is Alex Albon, and wow, P6 is absolutely mega for both Albon and Williams! Very, very impressed! I also thought Charles Leclerc did a great job, I was so close to giving him a 10, and Liam Lawson, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Pierre Gasly all did superbly well to score some points!

Drivers Who Had a Shocker

I’ve given out one 1 for today’s Race, and that is unfortunately for Isack Hadjar! I have no idea what happened to Isack, his Qualifying performance was excellent, but he completely fell back today and ended up as the only driver to get lapped! Elsewhere, Andrea Kimi Antonelli was poor once again, as were Carlos Sainz and Franco Colapinto, they really need to work things out!
