2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix Qualifying Review

Whilst it’s never easy to drive around the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, things were only made harder for the drivers as they had to tackle treacherous conditions in Qualifying to set the grid for the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix!

Q1
In Qualifying 1, Alex Albon, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Gabriel Bortoleto, Yuki Tsunoda, and Lewis Hamilton were the five slowest drivers! Alex Albon was the only driver in the entire session to completely take himself out with a crash; continuing Albon’s poor run of form, whilst Andrea Kimi Antonelli will be hugely disappointed to have been knocked out of Qualifying so early given there was genuine belief that he could maybe win this weekend! Gabriel Bortoleto could only manage 18th for Kick Sauber, ahead of Yuki Tsunoda who lapped 3.3 seconds slower than his Red Bull teammate (that’s ridiculous), whilst Lewis Hamilton ended up slowest and last in Qualifying after another terrible outing in his Ferrari! George Russell ended Q1 fastest of all, a good 3 tenths clear of Max Verstappen!

Q2
In Qualifying 2, Nico Hulkenberg, Lance Stroll, Esteban Ocon, Oliver Bearman, and Franco Colapinto all failed to make it into the Top 10 shootout! Nico Hulkenberg will have a good opportunity to score points from P11 tomorrow, whilst Aston Martin’s “gamble” to switch over to Intermediate tyres cost Lance Stroll not only a spot in Q3, but a potential Top 5 start (at least)! Haas locked out the 7th row of the grid, with Esteban Ocon finally beating Oliver Bearman, whilst Franco Colapinto couldn’t manage anything higher than P15! Russell was again top for Mercedes in Q2, this time ahead of the Williams of Carlos Sainz!

Q3
In Qualifying 3, a monstrous 1:47.934 was enough for Lando Norris to take another Pole Position as he takes another step closer to being crowned World Champion! Lando has always been a strong driver in the wet, and he once again came up clutch when he needed to! Max Verstappen will line up alongside him on the front row, ahead of Carlos Sainz who did a sensational job in his Williams, whilst George Russell could only manage P4! Oscar Piastri will start from 5th after being caught out by a late yellow flag, ahead of Liam Lawson who did a brilliant job for Racing Bulls, whilst Fernando Alonso ended up 7th for Aston Martin! Isack Hadjar will start from P8, ahead of a very disappointed Charles Leclerc (Ferrari’s rain struggles continue yet again), whilst Pierre Gasly ended up slowest in Q3 after only finding 2 tenths of a second between the Wets and Inters! Still, a strong effort from The Gasman!
