Lando Norris Returns Home as Champion
For the first time in his career, Lando Norris will compete on home soil as a Formula 1 World Champion! Silverstone was pretty special for Lando 12 months ago; he debuted his brand-new “Landostand” in Sector 3, whilst he was able to take victory in challenging conditions! At the time, this win moved Norris within 8 points of teammate and Championship leader Oscar Piastri, but little did he know how the rest of the season was going to play out, with Lando eventually being crowned Champion of the World in Abu Dhabi, winning the Title by just 2 points over Red Bull’s Max Verstappen! So, as a result of all of that, Silverstone 2026 will be the first time that Lando Norris has ever competed in front of his home crowd as both a World Champion, but also with the Number 1 on his car! Speaking of his car, McLaren are running a special livery this weekend; I quite like it! Unfortunately for Lando, his Championship defence hasn’t exactly gone to plan, with him just 5th in the Drivers’ Standings, 92 points off leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli! Still, despite all of that, Norris will be aiming for at least a Podium this weekend!

Arvid Lindblad’s Debut British GP
Britain’s newest and latest Formula 1 driver, Arvid Lindblad, is set to make his British Grand Prix debut this weekend! Arvid entered Formula 1 as a former Formula Regional Oceanic Champion, and he’s no stranger to Silverstone, having competed here in both Formula 2 and Formula 3! In fact, Lindblad was able to win both the Sprint and the Feature Race here in F3, with him later being my cover star for my 2024 Up-and-Coming Drivers article due to that very result! So far in 2026, Arvid has done alright in his Rookie season, with him currently 13th in the Standings after scoring points in 5 of his first 8 weekends! I’d say that’s a pretty good ratio, with Lindblad very much hoping that he can further improve that stat at his Home GP!

George Russell Needs Another Win
After a year full of plenty of downs so far, not all his own doing, George Russell finally bounced back in style to win the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix! A lot of things haven’t gone to plan for George this year; he’s had some terrible luck reliability-wise, whilst there’s also been weekends where he’s been miles off the pace of teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli, particularly in Miami and Monaco! However, in Austria, Russell was able to bounce back, successfully converting a Pole Position into his first victory since Australia, the season opener! After 8 Rounds, George Russell finds himself 40 points off the Championship lead, but it’s worth noting that there are still 14 weekends to go! Silverstone also plays host to a Sprint Weekend, a format that Kimi Antonelli has massively struggled in so far this year, so a win on home soil could be the turning point for Russell’s Championship challenge!

Oliver Bearman Deserves a Better Car!
In just two years, Oliver Bearman has proven himself to be one of the most exciting young talents in the racing scene! Ollie Bearman burst onto the Formula 1 scene at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix when he stepped into Ferrari to replace an injured Carlos Sainz! Ollie had a great outing, finishing 7th overall, and other impressive practice showings resulted in the young Brit getting a seat with Haas for the 2025 Formula 1 Season! Whilst there was quite a difficult period at one point last year, Bearman came alive in the latter stages of his Rookie Season, scoring in 5-consecutive weekends as he matched Haas’ best result of P4 in Mexico City! 2026 started off on the right note, with Oliver Bearman scoring 17 points across the opening two weekends of the year, including a P5 in China! However, over recent weekends, Haas’ performance has massively dropped off, with Bearman managing a best result of just P14 over the past 3 weekends! I think the large majority of Formula 1 fans will agree that Oliver Bearman deserves to drive for a better team, with him feeling next in line at Ferrari! However, this might take quite a while, so it’s imperative that Haas improves their performance in order to keep their star driver happy!

Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari Dream
Whilst the hope is that all 5 British drivers will have a good amount of support, I think there’s no doubting the fact that the ultimate fan favourite in Silverstone is Lewis Hamilton! Lewis is a 7-time World Champion; he is statistically the greatest racing driver of all time, and he’s arguably also the most successful British sportsman ever! Lewis has also tasted an awful lot of success around this circuit, winning 9 British Grand Prix's, whilst Hamilton comes into this weekend third in the Championship following a much better run than what he was on when he came to Silverstone for the first time as a Ferrari driver! Whilst it’s going to be difficult, the home crowd will believe that Lewis Hamilton can win for a record-breaking 10th-time at Silverstone, a result that would 100% put him back into second place in this year’s World Drivers’ Championship!
