NXT North American Championship: Ethan Page VS Sean Legacy

After Jasper Troy dropped Oba Femi on a car in the NXT Parking Lot, this week’s Championship edition of NXT kicked off with Ethan Page putting his NXT North American Title on the line against Sean Legacy! Sean Legacy has impressed since his debut from Evolve, he looks pretty talented and could be a useful member of the NXT Roster! Ethan Page is also obviously a star, everything he does is good, and he sold really well for the challenger here! The crowd was also fully behind Legacy and booing Page which added to the spectacle, and Sean even looked on to win at one point! However, in the end, a Twisted Grin from Ethan Page was enough for All Ego to retain his North American Title before Ricky Saints returned to start a brawl with his nemesis!

Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura VS The Culling, Lash Legend VS Wren Sinclair

Jacy Jayne wasn’t happy with Ava for not telling her about the newest NXT signings before Lainey Reid walked in and slapped Jacy not once, but twice! Jayne then demanded a match with Reid for later in the show before Lash Legend was talking trash about both Wren Sinclair and Kelani Jordan! Izzi Dame then explained her reasoning for taking out Brooks Jensen last week before The Culling were ready for some Tag Team action against Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura! This was totally fine, I like Briggs and Inamura together, they have great fire and chemistry, and The Culling are totally fine! The problem with the group is they cut good promos backstage, but they never truly deliver when it comes to in-ring quality! However, having said that, Niko Vance was able to score the win this week over Josh Briggs, and maybe The Culling can use this to go on a run!

Ava made it clear to Ricky Saints not to return to NXT until he’s fully healed up before Andre Chase told Kale Dixon and Uriah Connors to start doing things his way! We then got a video package for Mariah May, or as she will now be known as “Black Monroe”! I have to say, this felt very Sabrina Carpenter! Anyway, Lash Legend was then out next with brand-new entrance music as the Boujee Bully was ready to go one-on-one with Wren Sinclair! I was excited for this match, I like both women, I think they have a lot of potential, but this didn’t go long at all! If anything, it was almost a squash match as Lash destroyed Wren before she picked up the win relatively quickly! I don’t really understand why it was Sinclair in this spot, but okay!

NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne VS Lainey Reid, The D’Angelo Family VS The High Ryze

After a video package highlighting Lainey Reed and a backstage promo for Jasper Troy, Lainey Reed was set for her NXT in-ring debut against Jacy Jayne with the NXT Women’s Championship on the line! I actually thought this was a decent match, Jacy Jayne doesn’t get the credit she deserves because she is a lot better than people give her credit for! Lainey Reid also did a decent job, she could be a strong component of the NXT Women’s Division in a year or so’s time, and yeah, this was more than solid enough! Ultimately, Jayne was able to get the win to retain her NXT Women’s Title thanks to the help of Fallon Henley before Ava announced a Tournament to determine who will face Jacy for her Championship at Evolution 2! Interesting!

Josh Briggs apologised to Yoshiki Inamura for losing their match with The Culling earlier before First Class walked in and took some shots at Briggs and Inamura! Elijah then walked in to have a word with his fellow TNA stars before Charlie Dempsey wished Myles Borne good luck on his future path! Interestingly, I now think Tavion Heights also wants to leave the group, so I have absolutely no idea what’s going on there! Anyway, it was then time for a Tag Team match as The D’Angelo Family clashed with The High Ryze! The story surrounding this match was whether Tony D’Angelo could trust Luca Crusifino, and I have to say that Luca didn’t exactly do a great job here! Not only did he keep getting distracted by Wes Lee, but when Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo ran down later on in the match, Crusifino picked up the crowbar, and was holding it when D’Angelo turned around! This was another distraction that The Don couldn’t overcome as Tyson and Tyriek scored the win to the delight of The Kardiak Kid! Speaking of The Kardiak Kid, what is he doing?!

NXT Championship: Oba Femi VS Jasper Troy

After Trick Williams cut a brilliant promo, calling himself “Tricky-2-Brands”, it was Main Event time as a wounded Oba Femi had to defend his NXT Championship against the winner of LFG Season 1, Jasper Troy! Jasper Troy was in control of this for the most part, he took advantage of an injured Oba Femi who really had no business being out there, and honestly, I expected this to end with a brand-new NXT Champion! However, Oba refused to quit, fighting back and sending Jasper crashing through the barricade in a great spot! Femi then delivered a Fall From Grace which the referee said Troy kicked out of (he didn’t), so The Ruler delivered another one to get the win! At this point, Oba Femi is literally unbeatable!
