My most popular article of 2025 was when I made my Predictions for the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Season, and with the off-season in full effect, it’s the perfect time for me to react to those predictions (which I honestly don’t remember much about)! I like predicting F2 results, so let’s take a look at just how bad I did!

P22: Cian Shields
I’m both right and wrong with this prediction! On the one hand, Cian Shields did end up being the worst full-time F2 driver of 2025, but the likes of Nikola Tsolov and Martinius Stenshorne scoring points in guest appearances at the end of the season meant Shields ended up finishing 24th in the standings! The fact that this guy got to drive for Aston Martin in Abu Dhabi FP1 is beyond stupid!
P21: Rafael Villagomez
I never predict Rafael Villagomez to do any well, but in fairness to him, he did do much better than I expected! Rafael ended up finishing 14th in the Championship with 43 points to his name, with Villagomez even earning two Sprint Race Podiums (in Spain and Qatar)! Better from the Mexican!
P20: Max Esterson
I didn’t have many high hopes for Max Esterson heading into his first full season in FIA Formula 2, and that very much proved to be correct as Max failed to score a point on his way to a 23rd-place finish! On top of this, Esterson actually got dropped by Trident with 3 rounds to spare, so my thought process towards him at the start of the year was almost spot on!
P19: John Bennett
I got John Bennett’s season wrong for multiple reasons! Firstly, John finished lower than I predicted in 22nd, scoring just 1 point all season! Secondly, Bennett was massively outperformed by his Van Amersfoort Racing teammate, whilst I thought he’d beat him! Yikes!
P18: Sami Meguetounif
You might think that putting Sami Meguetounif to finish 18th would mean I had little expectations of him, and whilst that is kind of true, I still thought he’d be comfortable over his teammate! Now, Sami did manage to score 2 points this year (which is more than his teammate achieved), finishing 21st overall, but he too was dropped with 3 rounds to spare! Trident are an absolute shambles in this series!
P17: Roman Stanek
Kudos to Roman Stanek as he achieved an awful lot more in 2025 than I expected him to! Roman actually managed to finish inside the Top 10 of the overall standings, achieving 2 Pole Positions, 5 Podiums, and even a Feature Race Win in Belgium! My only saving grace with this prediction is at least I was correct when it came to Stanek being massively outperformed by his Invicta Racing teammate!
P16: Alex Dunne
Oh jeez! I’d been burned the year prior when I put Alex Dunne up there in my Formula 3 Predictions, only for him to struggle his way to 14th! As a result, I didn’t predict Alex to do that well in 2025, and that came back to bite me (once again) as Dunne finished all the way up in 5th! Alex achieved multiple Feature Race Wins, and I’m honestly lucky this prediction didn’t end up being even worse, given the young Irishman was in Championship contention for a lot of the season!
P15: Sebastian Montoya
This prediction wasn’t good at all! I had no positive expectations of Sebastian Montoya heading into 2025, so him scoring 3 Podium finishes across the season definitely wasn’t something I saw coming! On top of that, whilst P12 in the standings doesn’t look as horrific as you first may think, Montoya actually beat his teammate, and that is categorically something I never would’ve believed had someone come back from the future to tell me before the season started!
P14: Kush Maini
I wasn’t too far off with Kush Maini as the Indian racing driver ended up finishing 16th in the standings! Kush did win the Monaco Sprint Race (to be fair to him), but just 4 points-scoring finishes out of the remaining 26 Races (outside of Monaco) is pretty poor! Also, Maini’s performances compared to his teammate was awful (at least I got that correct, though)!
P13: Joshua Durksen
This guy! In 2024, Joshua Durksen made me look stupid when he finished 10th in the Championship after I predicted him to finish last! As a result, I went much higher with my expectations of Joshua, and that still proved not to be by enough as Durksen ended up 9th overall! Not only did JD win twice in 2025, but in the 10 Races he scored points in, 8 of those saw the Paraguayan end up on the Podium (which is actually insane)!
P12: Oliver Goethe
Unfortunately, Oliver Goethe didn’t perform as well as I thought he would! Oliver could only manage a 15th-place finish in the Championship, and maybe the tougher part of that is the fact that he didn’t manage to appear on the Podium once in 2025! At least Goethe was able to end the season with two P5’s in Abu Dhabi!
P11: Christian Mansell
Oh dear! When I made these predictions, Christian Mansell was set to drive for Rodin Motorsport, but just 10 days later, Mansell announced that he was stepping away from racing due to personal reasons, meaning he didn’t complete a single lap in this year’s F2 Championship! This has to be up there with my 2022 Nikita Mazepin prediction for worst-timing ones!
P10: Pepe Marti
I said that 2025 felt like a pretty important year in the career of Pepe Marti, and that turned out to be true! In fairness to Pepe, he did much better than I expected, finishing 8th overall despite missing the final two weekends of the year! Marti achieved 3 victories (all Sprint Races) over the course of 2025, and that was enough for the Red Bull Junior to earn a spot in ABB FIA Formula E!
P9: Dino Beganovic
Dino Beganovic was another driver who outperformed my expectations by a couple of positions as he ended up 7th in the standings! Dino achieved 4 Podiums in 2025, with his highlight moment coming when he won the Baku Sprint Race! However, honestly, the thing I’m most impressed with when it comes to Beganovic’s season was after the Silverstone Sprint, the young Swede managed to score points in 11 of the final 13 Races! At least I was correct in terms of which Hitech TGR driver would come out on top!
P8: Ritomo Miyata
Oh, Ritomo! I really wanted to be optimistic that 2024 was just a one-off for Ritomo Miyata, but that didn’t prove to be correct at all as the former Super Formula and Super GT Champion ended up just 17th! Miyata did manage to achieve his first Podium in the series at Belgium (when he finished P2 in the Feature Race), but still, this was another disaster for both Ritomo and my predicting skills!
P7: Luke Browning
I rated Luke Browning very highly heading into 2025, but clearly not high enough as the Williams-backed driver managed to end his Rookie Season in the series all the way up in P4! Luke achieved 8 Podium finishes across 2025, with one of those being a Race Victory in the Monza Feature Race! In fact, if it wasn’t for a difficult end to the year, I actually think Browning could’ve (and maybe should’ve) finished as the series’ runner-up! I can tell you now for free that I won’t be putting Luke Browning 7th for my 2026 Predictions!
P6: Leonardo Fornaroli
Four years into making Formula 2 Predictions, and I still haven’t been able to correctly predict who’s going to become Champion! I said that Leonardo Fornaroli would be trying to go back-to-back, but in a similar way to what I said about Gabriel Bortoleto the previous season, I just thought it might be one season to early for the Invicta Racing driver! Instead, Leo Fornaroli showed his brilliant levels of consistency as he scored points in 23 of the 27 Races across the 2025 Season (like that’s insane)! Fornaroli also managed to win 4 Races this season, so that’s at least something different compared to his 2024 F3 Championship-winning campaign!
P5: Arvid Lindblad
Damn it, I was so close to finally getting one correct! I knew Arvid Lindblad would be able to adapt well; he’d shown that throughout his entire junior formula career, and I was also correct in stating that if everything went to plan, Arvid would find himself in Formula 1 in 2026! Unfortunately for me, Lindblad finished 6th in the Championship (with 3 wins to his name)! That little bugger!
P4: Gabriele Mini
Oh no! I legitimately said that Gabriele Mini would come as the Rookie of the Season, and that couldn’t have been any further from the truth! Gabriele really struggled at Prema, finishing all the way down in 13th place, and worse of all, behind his teammate! Mini didn’t even win a Race in 2025, so this prediction really did suck!
P3: Richard Verschoor
If I was ever going to choose which prediction I got right in this article, I honestly don’t think I could’ve ever gotten a more satisfyingly correct prediction than with Richard Verschoor! I rate Richard Verschoor a lot; I think he’s underrated, and the reason I put him to finish so high up (compared to other people) was that for the first time, Richard was actually working with a strong team! As a result, I proved to be correct, with Verschoor winning 4 Races in what was probably his final year in Formula 2!
P2: Jak Crawford
Two in a Row! I had high hopes for Jak Crawford; he’s proven his ability as a strong racing driver over the years, and that’s why I had him so high up! Jak achieved 4 Wins in 2025, with 3 of them coming in Feature Races, and out of his 17 points-scoring finishes this season, Crawford ended up in the Top 6 fifteen times! A better start and end to the year probably results in Jak becoming F2 Champion, but instead, it looks like the American is set for a year of developing with both Aston Martin (in Formula 1) and Andretti (in Formula E)!
P1: Victor Martins
I’m such a curse when it comes to predicting the Formula 2 Champion! Despite being completely wrong in 2024, I decided to once again back Victor Martins to become F2 Champion, with my belief that a less good field (plus history of other drivers winning in their third season) would be enough for Martins to take the crown! Instead, Martins had even worse things happen to him, with the young Frenchman ending the season in P11! I’m so sorry, Victor!
