The biggest game on the sporting calendar is back as the New England Patriots are set to take on the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 60, live from Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California! I can assure you that very few people would’ve had this matchup written down last August, but here we are, starting this Super Bowl Preview Special with the Champions of the AFC!

The New England Patriots return to the biggest stage looking to make history! The New England Patriots had a great Regular Season to win the AFC East with a 14-3 record, a feat that’s particularly impressive given they were 1-2 to start the new season! During the Playoffs, New England were able to pick up strong home victories against both the Los Angeles Chargers and the Houston Texans, before they held on in Denver, knocking off the Number 1 seeded Broncos 10-7 to become AFC Champions! When it comes to the Super Bowl, The Patriots are 6-5 in the big game, with this being their first appearance since 2019 (when they had both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick)! It’s also worth mentioning that New England are 5-0 against NFC sides this season, and no team has ever won 7 Super Bowls in the history of the National Football League (with The Pats level with The Steelers on 6)! Overall, not many people expected the New England Patriots to return to the Super Bowl so quickly, with Mike Vrabel only needing one year to do so! However, this is a far different Patriots side than the juggernaut they had a decade or so ago, with Drake Maye now looking to join a small list of Quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl ring in just their sophomore season!

After being the best team for the large majority of 2025, the Seattle Seahawks are looking to cash in on a piece of redemption that’s been over a decade in the making! The Seattle Seahawks were the best team in the Regular Season, with a 14-3 record being enough for them to win a tightly contested NFC West (and take the NFC’s Number 1 seed in the process)! During the Playoffs, Seattle absolutely smashed the San Francisco 49ers 41-6 in the Divisional Round, whilst they were able to edge out the Los Angeles Rams 31-27 to win the NFC Championship! When it comes to the Super Bowl, The Seahawks are 1-2 in the big game, with this being their first appearance since 2014 (when they lost to The Patriots at the death)! It’s also worth mentioning that Seattle are also 5-0 against AFC sides this season, meaning something has to give (which is exactly what I said about Kansas City and Philadelphia this time last year)! Overall, the Seattle Seahawks have returned to the Super Bowl because they’re back to having the best defense in the land! However, having said that, when they didn’t show up last week, Quarterback Sam Darnold did, so The Seahawks have shown that they can beat you a number of different ways!

My Super Bowl 60 Prediction

Both the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks have done incredibly well this season to make it back to the Super Bowl, and the similarities between these two teams are bigger than what you might first think! Yes, a lot of the talk about New England has been about Drake Maye’s arrival on the big stage, whilst Seattle have rightly been praised for their incredible defense! However, Sam Darnold is just as much, if not more of a success story heading into this game, whilst The Pats’ defense is also pretty legit! What I’m basically saying is I feel like this game is going to be a lot closer than some people expect, simply because both teams are too good to get blown out! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; there’s a world where neither of these teams lost a game all season long, so this will come down to the wire! In the end, I’m going to back the Seattle Seahawks to win Super Bowl 60, on the basis that I believe they’ve been the best team across the 2025 NFL Season (there’s also an irony of them winning a Super Bowl in the home of one of their biggest rivals)!
