WWE Monday Night Raw Review: 07/09

The Vision Start the Show, Austin Theory VS Otis

After a recap of Sunday Night’s Main Event, this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw kicked off with The Vision basking in the glory of finally being complete again! Bron Breakker, in particular, was over the moon with the return of Bronson Reed, as Reed stated that now that he’s back, there’s no place on Monday Nights for Oba Femi! Austin Theory would then hype up the rest of the night for The Vision, leading to Akira Tozawa showing up as Otis returned to get his hands on Theory in the opening match of the night! Otis was firing on all cylinders in this one, with Theory taking a bit of a beating before Bronson Reed jumped into the ring to cause the DQ! Bron and Bronson would then destroy Otis and Tozawa, leading to Oba Femi storming out to try and get his revenge on The Vision! However, the numbers advantage would once again come back to bite Femi, with Reed delivering 3 Tsunami’s to Oba to once again stand tall over The Ruler! Bronson Reed for MVP!

Money in the Bank Qualifying Matches: Bron Breakker VS Rey Mysterio VS Ethan Page, Lyra Valkyria VS Sol Ruca VS Maxxine Dupri

946 made it clear that “nobody is safe”, whilst Jacob Fatu told The Usos that they need to trust him when it comes to knowing how to handle the Royce Keys situation! Stephanie Vaquer would then once again tell Becky Lynch that she doesn’t want her help, whilst The Miz and Kit Wilson would then appear to beat up comedian Matt Mathews! I enjoyed Mathews’ work in NXT a few months back, but it was quite something to see him take bumps! That included a Bron Breakker Spear, who was in the ring to take on both Rey Mysterio and Ethan Page in the first Money in the Bank Qualifying Match of 2026! It was sort of a shame to see Ethan Page in the same match as Bron Breakker, as Page really could’ve done with a spot in a match like Money in the Bank! However, WWE also needs to build Bron Breakker back up into a Main Event star, so having him potentially win MITB would make a ton of sense! So, after a pretty competitive contest, Breakker would send Ethan to the outside, following it up with a Spear to Mysterio to get the win!

LA Knight continues to make it clear to Adam Pearce that he wants the winner of Roman Reigns VS Penta next week, whilst Solo Sikoa told LA that he doesn’t think he can wait to get his revenge on 946! After a Penta hype promo, it was time for the second Triple Threat of the night as Lyra Valkyria, Sol Ruca, and Maxxine Dupri battled over the first spot in this year’s Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match! In a similar way to the men’s match, Lyra Valkyria needed to win this match to build up some much-needed momentum, whilst Sol Ruca being in a Ladder Match would make a ton of sense! In fact, even a win for Maxxine Dupri wouldn’t have been a terrible idea, given the fact that The Vision are seemingly starting to get pushed again! So, in my opinion, the way this match ended was well written, as a Night Wing looked certain to punch Valkyria’s ticket to MITB, only for a returning Bayley to pull the referee out of the ring! This would then open the door for Ruca to nail Lyra with a Sol Snatcher to book her ticket to New Orleans, before a furious Bayley continued her onslaught post-match! This was a well-booked contest!

Joe Hendry VS JD McDonagh, Liv Morgan VS Stephanie Vaquer: Women’s World Championship

946 were now hanging out in the parking lot, but once again, Jacob Fatu told The Usos that they needed to remain patient! After a bizarre Joe Hendry song, the former TNA World Champion made his way down to the ring to go one-on-one with JD McDonagh! The song that Hendry sang was about how JD’s Dad is a real-life “Funko Pop”, leading to the crowd chanting Funko Pop at McDonagh! Things would then get weirder as Je’Von Evans would arrive wearing the Funko Pop head, attacking Dominik Mysterio with it, as Hendry would take advantage to beat McDonagh! I love silly stuff in wrestling, but I’m not sure that this was very good!

Liv Morgan absolutely ripped Becky Lynch apart in a backstage promo, whilst Paul Heyman was more than happy to embrace Bronson Reed! However, Heyman still doesn’t seem very convinced with the rest of The Vision! Anyway, it was then time for the Main Event match of the night as Stephanie Vaquer challenged Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship! This match got plenty of time; an awful lot more than at WrestleMania, with the crowd getting into it as it went along! After a pretty clean match for a lot of it, The Judgment Day would once again play the numbers game, only for the referee to catch Raquel Rodriguez in the act! However, whilst Becky Lynch was dealing with Raquel, Roxanne Perez was able to slide the Women’s World Championship into Morgan’s grasp, with Liv then nailing Vaquer with a Title shot/ObLIVion combo to successfully retain her gold! I then assumed that the show would end here, but it didn’t!

The Usos Call an Audible

After a Big Cass video promo, The Usos told Jacob Fatu that they’d had enough of listening to his play, and that they’re calling an audible! Jimmy and Jey would then storm down to the ring to call out 946, only for Royce Keys and OTM to still be in the parking lot! Except this time, Keys had destroyed a bunch of security guards before 946 set The Bloodline’s car on fire! All of this seemed very extreme, but this build will probably move quite slowly given the fact that Survivor Series isn’t until November!
