Seth “Freakin” Rollins Starts the Show, Bron Breakker VS Penta
The final Monday Night Raw before Night of Champions kicked off with Seth “Freakin” Rollins and company as The Visionary cut a seething promo on how everyone’s success comes from him! Seth that CM Punk and Roman Reigns wouldn’t be here without him, that Cody Rhodes’ triumphant rise to the top wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for him, and Rollins was also adamant that everyone from John Cena to Gunther are just running a race to finish second place! I thought this was a really good promo segment from Seth Rollins, I felt he delivered his lines well, and a lot of what he said was true!
Grade: B
Bron Breakker then remained inside the ring as he took on Penta in the opening match of the night! This was a good match, it was back and forth, there were parts where Bron was in control, but Penta also got plenty of offense in! The Mexican Destroyer followed by a late kick out from Breakker was the best part of this match, even though the ending was also pretty strong as Breakker caught Penta mid-air with a nasty-looking Spear to get the win! After the match, Seth “Freakin” Rollins returned to warn Penta that this is his last warning, that he’d better stay out of their way or else!

Queen of the Ring Tournament (Semi-Finals): Jade Cargill VS Roxanne Perez, Gunther Promo

Adam Pearce told AJ Styles that Dominik Mysterio isn’t cleared for action meaning their match at Night of Champions has to be postponed! Pearce then booked The New Day to defend their World Tag Team Championships next week (against The Judgment Day) to the disgust of Grayson Waller before Goldberg had a sit-down interview where he said he was always going to get revenge on Gunther for his attack at Bad Blood last year! Apparently, this is Goldberg’s retirement match, but if that’s the case, why is he fighting for the World Heavyweight Championship?! Anyway, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria then didn’t exactly have the friendliest of conversations backstage before Jade Cargill clashed with Roxanne Perez in a Queen of the Ring Semi-Final! This was fine, it was sort of portrayed as a David VS Goliath matchup given the difference in size and strength, but the problem is David (Roxanne) is far better in the ring than Goliath (Jade)! However, that didn’t seem to matter as Cargill was relatively comfortable here, dropping Perez with Jaded to get the win! Asuka-Cargill is now set for Night of Champions!
Grade: C+
Rusev and Sheamus got into a war of words backstage before Gunther came out to cut a promo on Goldberg! Gunther said that Goldberg was the biggest threat of his generation, but it’s not 1999 anymore, and the World Heavyweight Championship signals that he is the Best Wrestler in the entire company! The Ring General then apologised to Goldberg’s family for what he’s going to do to him, and the best part about this whole thing is that parts of the crowd were cheering for the Champ!

Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch VS Bayley, Raquel Rodriguez Calls Out Rhea Ripley

Becky Lynch wasn’t too happy with Bayley and Lyra Valkyria conspiring against her before Sami Zayn punched Karrion Kross after Kross once again got inside his head! These two will actually face off at Night of Champions, and I’m very happy for Karrion! Becky Lynch was then ready to defend her Women’s Intercontinental Championship as she went one-on-one with Bayley! This was a good match, these are two of the most highly decorated female superstars on the planet, and my only complaint was it was happening on a random episode of Raw! However, that was for a reason as Lyra Valkyria showed up to try and help Bayley, but this just led to her getting taken out by Becky! This angered Valkyria to the point that she attacked Lynch when Bayley was headed to the top rope, meaning The Man won via disqualification! Bayley was rightly furious with Lyra over this, and this did make her look a little stupid!

Chad Gable could Ivy Nile her favourite student, but he also told Ivy that she needs to go for the kill when it comes to Stephanie Vaquer! Gable then tried to trash-talk Penta, and this resulted in Penta snapping Chad’s arm (whilst Ludwig Kaiser watched on)! Raquel Rodriguez had then stormed down to the ring during the break to do one thing and one thing only, call out Rhea Ripley! Rhea answered the call, starting a brawl between the two of them as it looked like Ripley was going to send Rodriguez crashing through the table, but Roxanne Perez then showed up to come to the aid of Raquel, allowing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion to send MAMI crashing through a table! After this, Ripley stormed into Adam Pearce’s office to get herself a match with Raquel, and that should be good given their past matches in NXT!

King of the Ring Tournament (Semi-Finals): Cody Rhodes VS Jey Uso

And in the Main Event of this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw, arguably the two biggest Babyfaces in the company squared off as Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso collided for the right to head to Night of Champions! This felt like a big match, it probably should’ve been the Final, but it got plenty of time to turn into something enjoyable! I liked it when Jey became more serious, he knew he needed to win, but Cody won then just follow it up with insane Cody Cutter’s! After Uso delivered a Spear, he headed to the top rope, only to get met with another ridiculous Cody Cutter before The American Nightmare delivered a Cross Rhodes to get the win! Honestly, Rhodes-Orton doesn’t excite me one bit!
