Women’s World Championship: Naomi VS Rhea Ripley VS Iyo Sky

Night 2 of WWE Summerslam 2025 kicked off with the Women’s World Championship on the line as Naomi, Rhea Ripley, and Iyo Sky collided in a Triple Threat match! This was a really good match, it got better as it went on, I thought Naomi looked impressive here, she stepped it up, and of course Rhea and Iyo are both excellent! Ripley came close to winning with a Riptide, as did Sky with an Over the Moonsault, but after Rhea delivered a Super Riptide to The Genius of the Sky, Naomi snuck in from behind and rolled up The Eradicator to retain her Women’s World Championship! Nicely done!

WWE Tag Team Championships TLC Match

It was time to get crazy as The Wyatt Sick6 looked to retain their WWE Tag Team Championships in a 6-Pack TLC Ladder Match with The Street Profits, DIY, FRAXIOM, the Motor City Machine Guns, and the duo of Rey Fenix and Andrade! This was my match of the weekend, I thoroughly enjoyed this! I love ladder matches, they’re so chaotic, and I like a lot of guys in this match, so I enjoyed it a lot! As expected, the bumps were crazy, with Johnny Gargano delivering a nasty-looking DDT to send Joe Gacy crashing through a table whilst Rey Fenix delivered the most ridiculous Frog Splash! There were also multiple interference spots, with Candice LeRae, B-Fab, Nikki Cross, Erick Rowan, and Uncle Howdy all getting involved, and this led to the worst spot of them all when Candice “literally” died crashing through a ladder! DIY then tried to follow suit by taking a stupid bump through 4 tables, and ultimately, it was The Wyatt Sick6 who did enough to retain their Titles! Insane!

Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch VS Lyra Valkyria

There were No Rules once again for the next match on this show as Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria collided for one final time with the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line! Unfortunately, this match was a bit of a mess! I actually feel really bad for both women, because they’ve had great matches together in the past, and the crowd didn’t care one bit! However, the actually in-ring action wasn’t that interesting either, with Lyra getting her hands zip tied for most of the match, and yeah, I just found this to be a bit dull! Bayley showed up towards the end of the match, stopping Becky from using a crowbar, but she then accidentally nailed Valkyria in the face, resulting in The Man retaining the Gold!

United States Championship Steel Cage Match: Solo Sikoa VS Jacob Fatu

The United States Championship was the next Title on the line as Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu went to war inside of a Steel Cage! This was totally fine, nothing we haven’t seen before, and as expected, the cage didn’t keep people out as both The MFT’s and Jimmy Uso got involved! Solo clearly only had one intention and that was to escape the cage, but Jacob wouldn’t let him! However, Talla Tonga then booted the door into the face of Fatu, allowing Sikoa to escape with the Gold! After the match was over, Jacob Fatu beat up JC Mateo and Tonga Loa, but honestly, I don’t need to see this feud continue!

Intercontinental Championship: Dominik Mysterio VS AJ Styles

In the penultimate match of Summerslam Sunday, Dominik Mysterio went one-on-one with AJ Styles with the Intercontinental Championship up for grabs! This match was entertaining, it wasn’t an amazing match by any stretch of the imagination, but it was clever! See, there were a lot of nods to Eddie Guerrero in this match, and the best part was after Dominik pretended he’d been hit by a steel chair, AJ fell over with the chair wrapped around his neck just to confuse the referee even more! After this, Mysterio unzipped his boot, meaning that Styles pulled off his boot during the calf crusher, resulting in “Dirty” Dom taking advantage and delivering a Frog Splash to score the win and retain his IC Title! Very, very smart!

Undisputed WWE Championship Street Fight: John Cena VS Cody Rhodes

And in the Main Event of this year’s Summerslam, John Cena and Cody Rhodes did battle in a Street Fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship! This was the best that John Cena has looked in his run so far (in-ring-wise), mainly because he was trying to be good! This was a really good match overall, a lot of strong positives, but I also have to be honest and say I didn’t love it! The ref counted far too slowly, I know it’s meant to add drama, but it’s honestly just annoying! Cena kicked out of at least 5 Cross Rhodes, which is fine, but it’s interesting given he’s beaten some top names with 1! However, what I liked the most about this match is Rhodes was willing to do whatever to recapture his WWE Championship, and that included smashing John with the exposed turnbuckle! After The American Nightmare saluted the 17-time World Champion, Cody dropped Cena with yet another Cross Rhodes to get the win and recapture the Undisputed WWE Championship! I personally didn’t want to see Cody win the Title again, particularly after he only lost it 3 and a half months ago, but it is what it is! Anyway, the most shocking moment of the weekend came just as the show was about to go off the air, as Brock Lesnar made a huge return to WWE to drop John Cena with an F5! Kind of insane that Brock is back, let’s see if it turns out to be a good thing!
