Baron Corbin VS Lil Yachty

After “Quavo” decided to sing a song, a special Sunday Night’s Main Event kicked off with Lil Yachty making his WWE in-ring debut against Baron Corbin! The stipulation was simple; as long as Yachty could survive 5 minutes, Trick Williams would get an immediate shot at Baron’s United States Championship! So, as expected, Yachty spent the first couple of minutes trying to escape Corbin’s wrath, whilst for some stupid reason, Corbin didn’t want to finish the match off despite multiple End of Days! I understand that Baron wanted to hurt Lil Yachty, but this made him look stupid! As a result of all of this messing around, Yachty was able to survive the 5-minute time limit, with Trick Williams then arriving as we now had ourselves a Championship match! Out of the three matches between Baron and Trick, this was the best one! Now, it’s not exactly a high bar, but this was pretty decent! Despite using the Title as a weapon, Trick Willy was able to kick out before Williams delivered a Trick Shot to score the 3-count, becoming a 2-time United States Champion in the process! Nothing that WWE did over the past month and a half has made Baron Corbin look good; this show was another example of that! Hopefully we can all just move on now!

Bron Breakker VS Oba Femi

With being the “Future of WWE” on the line, Paul Heyman took over ring announcing duties ahead of the one-on-one clash between Bron Breakker and Oba Femi! Whilst I would’ve had this match as the Main Event, it still felt like a big deal, even if we all knew that no matter the result, both of these guys are the future of this company! Both Bron and Oba looked like beasts at different parts of this match, with Femi having to fight off the numbers game of The Vision! However, despite taking care of Austin Theory, the match would ultimately end up as a disqualification after Bronson Reed made his long-awaited return, smashing a steel chair into the back of The Ruler! Following this, Bronson would deliver a massive 4 TSUNAMI’s, whilst Breakker would also hit a pair of Spears to The King of the Ring! In some ways, I would’ve preferred an actual finish, even if it wasn’t clean, but I guess this kind of made sense! As brilliant as Oba Femi is, he can’t beat both Bron and Bronson on his own!

Grade: B-

Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and Tatum Paxley VS Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab

The penultimate match of the night saw Tatum Paxley team up with Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair to take on the trio of Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab in 6-Woman Tag Team action! Whilst I had absolutely no care about this storyline heading into the show, this match was actually better than anticipated! When she wants to be, Charlotte Flair is still a pretty good wrestler, whilst both Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley are entertaining! With Flair doing most of the work, this actually proved to be her downfall, as Charlotte and Tatum accidentally collided with one another, opening the door for Cargill to drop The Queen with Jaded to pick up the victory! As long as all of this leads to a Charlotte Flair Heel turn, this is all fine!

Cody Rhodes VS Randy Orton

And in the Main Event of Sunday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes returned home to try and take care of Randy Orton for good! Before the match could even begin, Randy failed in his attempt to jump Cody from behind, with the two brawling through the crowd before the match eventually started! This was a pretty competitive matchup, with Cody eventually busting Randy’s face up after Brandi Rhodes made an appearance! Rhodes would then destroy Orton with multiple Cross Rhodes after the referee was wiped out, although Cody pulled out of hitting a Punt Kick after Randy begged him to stop! Wouldn’t you know it, Randy would then take advantage with a low blow, opening the door for The Viper to drop The American Nightmare with an RKO to get the win! I’m honestly so fed up with the whole “can Cody Rhodes pull the trigger” storyline; it’s been going on for years, and it’s just dumb!
