2024/25 Premier League Roundup: Gameweek 36

Note: So I am on holiday this week, and unfortunately, I can’t get YouTube to work with the Wi-Fi so because of that, I can’t watch the highlights to Roundup the weekend’s action like I usually would! However, an article must come out so I hope you enjoy this more bitesize version!

 


Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal

Despite being 2-0 up, Liverpool weren’t able to hold on as Arsenal came back to earn an important point! After 20 minutes, Liverpool had the lead through Cody Gakpo, and things were looking great for the hosts as Luis Diaz made it 2-0 less than a minute later! However, Arsenal were able to get one back just 2 minutes into the Second Half through Gabriel Martinelli, and in the 70th minute, Arsenal were back on level terms thanks to Mikel Merino’s header! Now, Merino was later sent off for a second Yellow Card, but the score remained even! In the end, Liverpool really should’ve won this game! The Reds remain as Champions and they head to Brighton next Monday! As for Arsenal, this was a valuable point for them! The Gunners stay second in the league and they host Newcastle in a big game next time out!

 


Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea

Newcastle breezed past 10-man Chelsea to earn a massive 3 points in the Race for Champions League Football! After less than 2 minutes, Newcastle already had the lead as Sandro Tonali scored to gift the hosts the perfect start! Things then got worse for Chelsea as Nicolas Jackson was shown a straight Red in the 35th minute, and Newcastle finally took advantage of this in the 90th minute as Bruno Guimaraes sealed all 3 points! Overall, this was exactly the result that Newcastle United were looking for! The Magpies rise to third in the league and their next game is a massive one away at Arsenal! As for Chelsea, they weren’t good enough here! The Blues stay 5th in the table and they host Manchester United next time out!

 


Bournemouth 0-1 Aston Villa

AFC Bournemouth’s European dreams took a big hit as Aston Villa kept themselves well in the fight for Champions League Football! Despite Bournemouth having most of the ball in the First Half, it was Aston Villa who took the lead in the 6th minute of additional time courtesy of Ollie Watkins! Villa were then put under more pressure later on as Jacob Ramsey was shown a second Yellow Card, but the visitors were still able to hold on to a precious 3 points/clean sheet! In the end, this loss really hurts AFC Bournemouth! The Cherries drop to 10th in the table and their next game is a massive one away at Manchester City! As for Aston Villa, this is a cracking win for them! Villa rise to 6th in the league and they host Tottenham next time out!

 


Southampton 0-0 Manchester City

Southampton managed to overtake Derby’s record-breaking points total of 11 with a strong point against a disappointing Manchester City! Despite the fact that Manchester City had 72% possession and 26 shots, they couldn’t find their way past the worst team in recent Premier League memory! In the end, this was at least something for the Southampton fans to cheer about! The Saints remain bottom of the league and they head to Everton next time out! As for Manchester City, this is an appalling result for them! City drop to 4th in the league and they face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup Final on Saturday followed by a home game against Bournemouth!

 


Nottingham Forest 2-2 Leicester

A late Leicester City goal was enough for Nottingham Forest’s Champions League hopes to be damaged even more! After just 16 minutes, it was Leicester who had the lead courtesy of a Conor Coady header, but Nottingham Forest were then back level less than 10 minutes later as Morgan Gibbs-White scored a header of his own! Speaking of headers, in the 56th minute, Forest had the lead as Chris Wood scored what looked to be a crucial goal for his side, but that wasn’t to be the end of the game as Facundo Buonanotte pegged them back in the 81st! In the end, it’s another disastrous result for Nottingham Forest! Forest drop to 7th in the league and their next game is a must-win away at West Ham! As for Leicester City, this is actually quite a good point for them! The Foxes remain 19th in the table and they host Ipswich next time out!

 


Ipswich 0-1 Brentford

1 goal was all that Brentford needed to edge out Ipswich Town and secure 3 key points! In the 18th minute, Brentford found themselves in front through Kevin Schade, and that was ultimately all they needed against a struggling Ipswich side! In the end, it’s another defeat for Ipswich Town! The Tractor Boys remain 18th in the table and they head to Leicester next time out! As for Brentford, they got the 3 points that they were looking for! The Bees rise to 8th in the league and their next game is a big one at home to Fulham!

 


Wolves 0-2 Brighton

Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered their second-straight loss as Brighton and Hove Albion picked up 3 much-needed points in their push for European Football! Whilst Danny Welbeck may have had a goal ruled out in the 23rd minute, it only took 5 minutes longer for Welbeck to fire Brighton in front from the penalty spot! And in the 85th minute, Brighton’s victory was secured as Brajan Gruda scored thanks to a ball from Simon Adingra! In the end, Wolverhampton Wanderers just weren’t quite good enough here! Wolves drop to 14th in the table and they head to Crystal Palace in 8 days time! As for Brighton and Hove Albion, this is a great result for them! Brighton rise to 9th in the league and they host Liverpool next time out!

 


Fulham 1-3 Everton

Despite taking the lead, Fulham blew more points as Everton picked up a positive win! After just 17 minutes, Fulham had the lead through Raul Jimenez, and this was a great goal all-round! However, despite dominating the First Half, Everton were somehow able to go into the break on level terms as Vitaliy Mykolenko scored in the third minute of additional time! In the 70th minute, Everton found themselves in front through Michael Keane, and the visitors’ victory was secured just 3 minutes later as Beto added a third! In the end, it’s another rubbish result as far as Fulham are concerned! The Cottagers stay 11th in the league and their next game is must-win at Brentford! As for Everton, this is a good win for them! The Toffees rise to 13th in the table and they host Southampton next time out in their final-ever game at Goodison Park!

 


Tottenham 0-2 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace will take some momentum with them into the FA Cup Final after a positive 2-0 win away at London Rivals Tottenham Hotspur! After just 8 minutes, Crystal Palace thought they had the lead through Ismaila Sarr, but his goal was ruled out for offside before Palace finally had the lead right on Halftime through Eberechi Eze! Speaking of Eze, just 3 minutes into the Second Half, and Palace’s lead doubled as Eze netted a second time! In the end, Tottenham Hotspur are just awful! Spurs drop to 17th in the table and they head to Aston Villa next time out! As for Crystal Palace, this is a good win for them! The Eagles remain 12th in the league and they face Manchester City in a massive FA Cup Final clash on Saturday before they take on Wolves in the league!

 


Manchester United 0-2 West Ham

West Ham United managed to pick up their first victory since February as Manchester United lost yet again! After 26 minutes, it was West Ham who had the lead as Tomas Soucek found the back of the net, and in the 57th minute, it was 2-0 as Jarrod Bowen netted once again! Despite all of the pressure and chances that Manchester United then went on to create, they just couldn’t score! In the end, it’s another defeat for Manchester United! United drop to 16th in the table and they head to Chelsea this Friday! As for West Ham United, they should be very happy with this result! The Hammers rise to 15th in the league and they host Nottingham Forest next time out!
