France 0-2 Spain

The tournament favourites, France, got dumped out in dramatic fashion by an outstanding Spanish performance! Given the fact that France have easily been hyped up as the best team in the tournament, with their attacking quality being one of the greatest in international football history! However, their attack couldn’t break through Spain’s defence in this game, with them failing to create a single big chance all game! After Lucas Digne took out Lamine Yamal in the box, Mikel Oyarzabal stepped up and converting his penalty superbly to give Spain the lead after 22 minutes! Then, in the 58th minute, Pedro Porro added a second to give the Spanish clear daylight over the French! This game was absolutely insane! In the end, you have to say that France failed this tournament! They had everything they needed to win the World Cup, and yet they’ll have to settle for a trip to Miami for the Bronze Final!

England 1-2 Argentina

A late comeback guided Argentina a step closer to retaining their crown as England fell short once again! Neither of these teams had been particularly impressive up to this point, minus England’s win against Mexico in Mexico City, and we kind of saw that with a pretty poor and cagey first half! In fact, there were just 3 shots recorded in the entire first half, with not a single one being on target! However, 10 minutes into the second half, Anthony Gordon would fire England ahead from out of absolutely nowhere, meaning we were actually set to get a game in the final 40 minutes! However, that didn’t exactly happen, with Thomas Tuchel deciding that it was best for his side to put everyone behind the ball, a tactic that was never going to work against a winning side like Argentina! So, despite hitting the post twice, the reigning World Champions were able to get back on level terms in the 85th minute courtesy of a wonderful strike from Enzo Fernandez, before Lautaro Martinez scored the winning goal in stoppage time! In the end, England messed this up tactically, and there’s only so many chances you get to win the World Cup before your window closes! As for Argentina, once again, their winning spirit cannot be ignored, with the Argentinians set for their 4th-straight Major Final!

Third Place Playoff: France VS England

The worst game in Football takes place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, as France take on England for the right to finish third at the 2026 FIFA World Cup! France were shell-shocked by a 2-0 Semi-Final defeat to Spain last time out, and their tournament aggregate stands at 16-4! As for England, they suffered a gut-wrenching defeat late on against Argentina in the other Semi-Final, and they enter this game with an aggregate score of 14-8! Both of these teams had aspirations of making the Final before the tournament started, and I’d honestly be surprised if either France or England want to play this game to begin with! However, a win for England would see them earn their second-best World Cup finish in history, so I guess they have a little bit more incentive than the French!

My Prediction: 3-1

After a record-breaking 103-game tournament, it all comes down to this as Spain and Argentina clash at MetLife Stadium in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final! Spain have been almost faultless up to this point, going unbeaten with a staggering tournament aggregate score of 13-1! As for Argentina, they’ve actually won every game this summer, with their aggregate score standing at 19-7! Fun facts, this is only the second time that Spain have ever played in a World Cup Final (they won in 2010), whilst Argentina are entering a record-equalling 4th-consecutive Major Tournament Final! In fact, if Argentina win on Sunday, they would become the first team in history to win four major tournaments in a row (WC 2022, Copa America 2021/2024)! In the end, you cannot avoid the fact that Argentina are serial winners; they’ve proved it time and time again, but for me, Spain are the best team in the world!

My Prediction: 2-1
