Je’Von Evans VS Josh Briggs

NXT No Mercy 2025 kicked off with Je’Von Evans going one-on-one with Josh Briggs! This was a really good way to start the show; both guys are supremely talented, and the crowd really got into it as it went along! I wasn’t fully sure which way this was going to go, there were arguments for either man to win, but after plenty of late kickouts (similar to prime Johnny Gargano or Wes Lee), Evans was eventually able to pin Briggs to earn another important PLE victory!

NXT Women’s Speed Championship: Sol Ruca VS Jaida Parker

After Lainey Reid was medically ruled out of in-ring competition, Jaida Parker stepped in to fight Sol Ruca for the NXT Women’s Speed Championship! These types of Speed matches have a 5-minute time limit, and this was at least a little better than the matches we’ve seen leading up to this fight! It’s a massive shame that Lainey Reid got injured, especially as I think she was going to win here, but this just left another interesting question as to how NXT were going to combat the change! In the end, they had Lash Legend distract Jaida Parker, allowing Ruca to deliver a Sol Snatcher to retain her Championship, and yeah, this was the best they could do all things considered!

Blake Monroe VS Jordynne Grace: Weaponized Steel Cage Match

After months of fighting, it all came to a head as Jordynne Grace faced Blake Monroe inside of a Weaponized Steel Cage! This match featured my favourite thing: pink weapons! There were pink kendo sticks, pink bats, pink chairs, and even pink trash cans! There were even pink scissors, which Blake used to great effect, chopping some of Jordynne’s hair off! I thought this match was pretty good overall; both women are talented and have benefited from this feud! This was another match where I wasn’t sure who was going to be victorious, and to be honest, it looked like Monroe had it won when she threw powder into the face of Grace! However, JG retaliated, sending The Glamour crashing through a table (with an air-raid crash) to score the win! I would assume that Jordynne Grace will move back into Title contention!

NXT North American Championship: Ethan Page VS Tavion Heights

ree

The first major NXT Title was on the line next as Tavion Heights aimed to dethrone Ethan Page for the NXT North American Championship! This match was fine, there were some good moments, and I honestly always enjoy Ethan Page’s work! However, this match felt a little weak in comparison to some of the other matches on this card, but I don’t think it helped that I was watching this whilst in the car (it’s been a long day)! Whilst Tavion winning here would’ve been earned; he’s worked hard to be in this spot, he’s simply not the right man to dethrone All Ego, and that showed as Page delivered a Twisted Grin to score another successful retention! After the match was over, El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. appeared on the screen, furthing building his feud with the North American Champion!

NXT Women’s Championship: Jacy Jayne VS Lola Vice

With home-field advantage very much in her corner, could Lola Vice take advantage of a lessened Fatal Influence when she challenged Jacy Jayne for the NXT Women’s Champion? This honestly could’ve been the match of the night; at least on par with the opener! I was very impressed by both women, this may well have been the best match I’ve seen either woman put on, and that’s all credit to them! Fallon Henley kept proving herself to be a nuisance, pulling the referee out of the ring when it looked like Lola was about to score a 3 count, and both women then continued to come close with respective near-falls! In fact, Vice kicking out of Jayne’s knee genuinely got me, and it looked like Lola could be closing in on the win again, only for a hooded individual to nail Miss Miami with a knee strike! This then led perfectly into Jacy Jayne delivering the Rolling Encore to get the win, and fair play, this was very good!

NXT Championship: Oba Femi VS Ricky Saints

And in the Main Event of this year’s NXT No Mercy, Oba Femi and Ricky Saints clashed with the NXT Championship on the line! This was another good match between two incredibly talented athletes, and this was yet another match that could’ve gone either way! Again, I may not have been able to enjoy this match quite as much as I would’ve had I been at home, but that’s okay, it was still interesting! Ricky delivered a massive DDT to drop Oba onto the announce table, and The Ruler fired back with a swat of his own! Femi then delivered a Fall From Grace to surely retain his Title, but this time, it just wasn’t meant to be as Saints kicked out! Mr. Revolution then delivered another 2 more DDT’s to finally grab the win, meaning Ricky Saints is the brand-new NXT Champion! Firstly, congrats to Ricky Saints, what an amazing debut year he’s having, and you can’t say he hasn’t earned being a World Champion! Secondly, Oba Femi has done a fabulous job carrying the NXT Championship, and his entire run in NXT since the end of 2023 has been nothing short of glorious! I really, really hope this means that Femi will move up to the Main Roster, whilst Ricky Saints will have to prepare himself for another TNA Invasion!
