Reacting to My ABB FIA Formula E Season 11 Predictions

With Formula E now done for another season, it’s that time of the year once again where I react to the Predictions I made last December ahead of Season 11 of ABB FIA Formula E! This usually doesn’t go very well, but I have a little more hope this time around (for who knows why)!

P22: David Beckmann
Funnily enough, I was wrong about this Prediction by 1 as David Beckmann ended up 23rd in the Standings with just 1 point to his name! In fact, that point came in the Season Finale in London, but as I expected, Beckmann had a really difficult Rookie Season! However, he didn’t finish last at least!
P21: Lucas di Grassi
Whilst Lucas di Grassi didn’t have a particularly good season, he did do better than this to finish up in 17th! Lucas was the only driver to score points for Lola Yamaha ABT, so I was wrong to say he would be beaten by his teammate, and he also managed to finish second in Miami which is actually pretty insane, even more so now!
P20: Dan Ticktum
Dan Ticktum had a much better Season 11 than I anticipated as he ended up 11th in the Standings with 85 points! Dan finished on the Podium twice this year, including a sensational win in Jakarta, and the only saving grace I have is I at least said he’d be the lead Kiro driver!
P19: Edoardo Mortara
I didn’t expect good things out of Mahindra Racing when I made these Predictions, and that’s why I thought this could well be Edoardo Mortara’s last year in the series! However, Edo did much better, scoring 88 points to finish 9th in the Championship, yes, 10 places higher than I predicted! Mortara also scored back-to-back Podiums in Jakarta and Berlin, and fair play to him, this year was much more like it!
P18: Nyck de Vries
Deary me, I did shockingly when it came to Mahindra! Nyck de Vries finished 8th in the Championship, again 10 places higher than I predicted, and he missed an entire weekend in Berlin! Nyck scored three P2’s over the course of Season 11, and my only saving grace is I did quite well at predicting how close the Mahindra teammates would be, just not how good the car would be itself!
P17: Zane Maloney
I obviously had too much faith in Zane Maloney as he finished 24th and last in the Standings without a single point to his name! The fact that Zane was the only driver not to score a point all season whilst his teammate finished on the Podium once simply isn’t good enough, even if he was the one true Rookie in the field!
P16: Norman Nato
I knew Norman Nato would struggle compared to his teammate, but I didn’t think this much! Norman finished 20th in the Standings, finishing in the points on just three occasions, that’s so poor considering his teammate won the World Championship! However, weirdly enough, Nato did take Pole in Miami!
P15: Sam Bird
I didn’t expect too much from Sam Bird heading into Season 11, but things turned out to go an awful lot worse as he managed just 18th in the Championship! Bird retired in each of the last 3 Races, got completely trounced by his Rookie teammate, and his Formula E career looks to be over as a result! What a terrible way to end things!
P14: Taylor Barnard
Take a bow, Taylor Barnard! Taylor Barnard has had an unbelievable Rookie Season, finishing on the Podium 5 times on his way to finishing 4th in the Championship! In terms of a Prediction, this was awful, but I don’t really mind because I’ve always rated Taylor highly!
P13: Jake Hughes
Yeah, this wasn’t great as Jake Hughes finished 16th in the Championship with 40 points! The reason I say this wasn’t great is I expected Jake to have his best season scoring-wise after moving to a stronger team in Maserati MSG, but it ended up being his worst season to date! Amazing work from me as always!
P12: Nico Muller
I was cautious with where I put Nico Muller in my Predictions because of him being Jake Dennis’ teammate, but I clearly wasn’t cautious enough as Nico finished down in 15th without a single Podium finish all season! Being the Andretti second driver is not fun!
P11: Sebastien Buemi
Gosh, I was so close with this one as Sebastien Buemi ended up 12th in the Standings! Seb did earn three Podiums over the course of 2025, with his highlight moment coming with a win in Monaco! Buemi also beat his teammate by a considerable margin, so that was something I definitely got wrong!
P10: Robin Frijns
This year was not a good one for Robin Frijns as he ended up finishing all the way down in P19! Frijns scored just 23 points all season, with his highest finish being P7 in London! To finish 9 places lower than I predicted is pretty bad, from both Frijns and me!
P9: Oliver Rowland
I’m pretty sure this is now the third time that the person I’ve predicted to finish 9th has gone on to become a Champion! Oliver Rowland has been absolutely superb this year, particularly in the first half of the season, with 4 wins and another 3 second’s resulting in what feels like the most dominant FE Championship win in some time! Fair play to Rowland, but once again, what a terrible job by me!
P8: Stoffel Vandoorne
Stoffel Vandoorne didn’t have the first year at Maserati MSG Racing that I was expecting as he only ended up 14th in the Standings! Stoffel did manage to win in Tokyo, which was pretty crazy, but other than that, things didn’t exactly click, particularly in the second half of the season! The only positive about this Prediction is I was right in Vandoorne being the lead Maserati driver!
P7: Maximilian Gunther
Maximilian Gunther didn’t quite have the season I expected, but he still ended up 10th overall so that’s not too bad! The weird thing about Max Gunther’s season is he was definitely the second-best DS Penske driver, and yet he won twice whilst his teammate only appeared on the Podium twice! Kind of crazy, but I guess you’d take this!
P6: Antonio Felix da Costa
I was so close here as Antonio Felix da Costa finished one place higher in 5th! Antonio had a good season, he scored points in 11 of the 16 Rounds, with 4 Podiums in this time! It’s a little crazy that da Costa didn’t win this year, but he still did well, and ended up behind his teammate so this is definitely my best Prediction yet!
P5: Pascal Wehrlein
I have to say, the fact that Pascal Wehrlein ended this season third in the Championship is actually pretty good going! Pascal is amazing, I will say that he has struggled more this year than previous seasons in the Gen3 Era, but he still ended up third as the reigning World Champion! If anyone has watched Formula E in the past, you’d know there’s something of a “Champions’ curse”, so for Wehrlein to score 6 Podiums this year, including a win in Miami, is very good going!
P4: Jean-Eric Vergne
Jean-Eric Vergne is always a shoo-in for a Top 6 spot, and that’s exactly where he finished in 6th! JEV’s consistency is always really strong, particularly in the first 3-quarters of the season, and the craziest thing to me is the fact he didn’t really ever come that close to winning, with just the 2 Podium finishes all season!
P3: Mitch Evans
I was worried that Mitch Evans would once again miss out on the Formula E World Title, and instead, he was absolutely nowhere near it, finishing 10 places lower in 13th! Mitch won the season opener in Sao Paulo, then didn’t score for another 11 rounds before he won again in Berlin, starting a run of 4-straight points-scoring finishes to end the season! What a disastrous year for Mitch Evans after years of just falling short at the final hurdle!
P2: Jake Dennis
I thought Jake Dennis would bounce back after a difficult Season 10 as the reigning World Champion, and in fairness he did, but not this well as he ended up 7th! Jake appeared on the Podium twice, but he also had a lot of bad luck, with him losing out on all 25 points in Jakarta (a result that could’ve seen him rise to 4th overall)! Still, I’d say given Andretti’s lack of performance compared to some of the teams around them, I’d say Dennis did well to end up 7th!
P1: Nick Cassidy
For a lot of this season, I thought my decision to back Nick Cassidy to become the latest ABB FIA Formula E World Champion would be the worst prediction I ever made (which is saying something)! Nick was languishing at the back in most Races, he was barely scoring any points, and yet 4 wins in the last 6 Races, included the final 3 meant he ended up second in the Championship! The fact I only ended up 1 place off with my Nick Cassidy prediction is absolutely insane!
