WWE Friday Night SmackDown Review: 23/10
Sami Zayn Starts the Show, Chelsea Green VS Roxanne Perez: WWE Women’s Championship
This week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown kicked off with Sami Zayn coming down to the ring to talk about Roman Reigns! Sami was talking about how he’s the number 1 guy in WWE right now as he holds the Undisputed WWE Championship, and that he’s got everyone chasing after him! Rey Fenix then made his way down to the ring to tell Sami that as much as they are amigos, he won’t stand for Zayn showing any disrespect towards Fenix’s family, whilst Zayn made it clear that he just feels like Penta should focus on Roman Reigns, “that’s all”! Trick Williams would then interrupt to make it clear to Sami Zayn that he wants a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship, something Zayn isn’t willing to give! Sami then delivered a cheap shot to Trick before escaping, with Nick Aldis booking a Tag Team match for the show’s Main Event! I guess this was a good way to build to the Main Event!
Grade: C+

We then headed straight into the opening match of the night as Chelsea Green put her WWE Women’s Championship on the line against Roxanne Perez! Roxanne earned this match by beating Chelsea Green on Raw a couple of weeks ago, so at least this opportunity was more deserved than Nikki Bella’s next week! As far as this match is concerned, it was decent enough; there were some good moments, but it wasn’t exactly filled with a ton of jeopardy! The fact that WWE advertised Liv Morgan VS Chelsea Green for Crown Jewel before this match even began was kind of hilarious, whilst Raquel Rodriguez’s attempt to interfere got dealt with by Iyo Sky! After Chelsea scored the win with an Unprettiher, Liv Morgan attacked her fellow Champion from behind, only for Tiffany Stratton to run down and make the save! Tiffany would then find herself with an opening to cash in on Liv, but just like every year, the referee didn’t know what to do! This is always the worst part of MITB; the refs are useless!

Blake Monroe VS Giulia: Street Fight, Cody Rhodes Interrupts Randy Orton

Chelsea Green continues to act like a fool around Tiffany Stratton (now featuring Iyo Sky), before Blake Monroe and Giulia went one-on-one in a Street Fight! This was the culmination of a pretty long feud that hasn’t had a ton of wrestling involved, but in fairness, this was quite good! Giulia is great; we all know that, whilst Blake Monroe suits a crazier style of wrestling, even if she is nicknamed “The Glamour”! Blake took a nasty bump on a tower of steel chairs, whilst I liked the uniqueness of them brawling to the back so Giulia could smash Monroe’s face into a mirror (nice)! We then got a superplex onto steel chairs, whilst Giulia should win every match that she delivers a Stomp in! However, that wasn’t to be the case as Monroe would eventually put The Beautiful Madness away with a Neutralizer, and let’s be honest, Monroe needs to bring back her DDT!
Grade: B
Randy Orton was out next to talk about how proud he is of Cody Rhodes, whilst Cody would quickly interrupt as he clearly wasn’t having any of this! Nick Aldis and other WWE officials would quickly come down to the ring to stop anything from getting out of hand, with Rhodes getting in the face of Orton as Aldis wanted to quickly book a match between the two! Randy refused to have it tonight; however, with it instead set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at Crown Jewel! The American Nightmare wasn’t having any match, though, as the two will face off in a Last Man Standing Match! Please end this feud!
Grade: C
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley VS Michin and B-Fab, MFT VS Bakusai

The second Championship match of the night was next as Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley put their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on the line against Michin and B-Fab! Alexa and Tatum only won these Titles a couple of weeks ago, with it firmly feeling like this was going to be the way to build to Charlotte Flair’s eventual Heel turn on Alexa Bliss! B-Fab and Michin felt like a pretty easy victory for the Champions, with their feud then continuing with Fatal Influence! However, none of that happened, as out of nowhere, after Jade Cargill got involved, Michin dropped Paxley with a Styles Clash to get the win, meaning B-Fab and Michin are now the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions! What on earth am I watching?!

Grade: ?
Trick Williams confirmed that he will be challenging Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship next week, whilst Rey Fenix wants them to talk about tonight’s Main Event! Damian Priest clearly has his eyes set on both Trick and the Undisputed WWE Title (finally), before MFT were set to take on Bakusai! However, that never happened, as Kyoki stole Haku’s stick, leading to a brawl between the two teams that officials and referees had to break up! I guess they ran out of time?!
Grade: C
Sami Zayn and Johnny Gargano VS Trick Williams and Rey Fenix
After a heated interview exchange between CM Punk and Kevin Owens, the Main Event of this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown saw Sami Zayn and Johnny Gargano team up to take on the duo of Trick Williams and Rey Fenix! This seemed like a pretty cool match on paper, but it didn’t last long as Ricky Saints attacked Rey quickly, causing the disqualification, before Penta made his way down to the ring to even the odds, setting up a 6-Man Tag Team match instead! I thought this was decent; everyone involved is talented, and it was funny to see Trick and Ricky face off a year after their feud over the NXT Championship! To no one’s surprise, Saints took the fall here, with Williams hitting a Book-End to get the win, as the show went off the air with Trick, Penta, and Rey Fenix staring down Sami Zayn! At least the Main Event scene on SmackDown feels different (unlike Raw)!
