John Cena’s Last Time in Boston, Dominik Mysterio VS John Cena: Intercontinental Championship

After Triple H went on about who the greatest of all time really is, John Cena came out to make his final appearance in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts! John said that whilst he’s always been asked about who his final opponent is going to be, he was very happy that Triple H asked him what he wanted to do about it! That’s the reason for this Last Time is Now Tournament: to give opportunities to different stars, and Cena also confirmed that Saturday Night’s Main Event will host matches between Main Roster and NXT Superstars (which is pretty cool)! Cena then followed it up by saying he had to come back to Boston one final time, and this is when Dominik Mysterio interrupted to make it clear that he’s better right now than Cena’s ever been! This seemed to irritate Triple H, who decided to book a match between Dom and John with the Intercontinental Championship on the line, and this all felt like a bit of a fever dream! The match itself was pretty entertaining, with the crowd loud for both men, and it wasn’t 100% clear as to which way the result would go! After a ref bump, Mysterio tapped out in the STF, but without a referee there to call the decision, the match had to continue! Cena then delivered an AA as a new referee ran down, leading to a great near-fall, before another Attitude Adjustment was enough for John Cena to capture the IC Title and become a Grand Slam Champion! This was pretty insane; a nice moment for John, and I’m very intrigued to see where Dominik is going to go from here!

The Last Time is Now Tournament (Round 1): Damian Priest VS Rusev, CM Punk Gets Interrupted

After John Cena got congratulated by a number of superstars backstage (including Cody Rhodes), The Last Time is Now Tournament was ready to begin as a banged-up Damian Priest looked to take down Rusev! Even though I wouldn’t have expected either guy to make it to the end of this Tournament, this was still quite a good First-Round matchup, and I certainly enjoyed it! Damian was seriously struggling with his vision after all the attacks he’s received from Aleister Black and Zelina Vega, and it makes you wonder how and why he was even cleared for this match! However, what this did is it gave Rusev a rather big target to aim at, and eventually, after racking the eye of Priest, Rusev delivered a Machka Kick to score the win to advance to the Quarter-Finals!

AJ Styles told Dragon Lee that they need to continue to workshop Tag Team name ideas before Maxxine Dupri told Adam Pearce to give her Becky Lynch! Pearce agreed for the match to take place next week in Madison Square Garden, with the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line, but this just resulted in Becky sneak-attacking Dupri! CM Punk then came out to cut a promo, making it clear that, whilst Logan Paul doesn’t deserve a shot at his World Heavyweight Championship, he’s still going to fight him! This brought out Logan, who claimed that he is smarter than everyone, before he got some backup in the form of Paul Heyman and The Vision! Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Logan Paul then surrounded the ring, only for Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes to run down to even the odds! I’m not really sure what Cody Rhodes is doing here, but at least it gives him something to do!

Women’s World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer VS Raquel Rodriguez, Shinsuke Nakamura VS Sheamus

The Women’s World Championship was next to be on the line as Stephanie Vaquer looked to retain against the formidable Raquel Rodriguez! Booking this match was a little bit odd given Roxanne Perez is the member of The Judgment Day who’s currently on a winning run, but I also think Roxanne should be the one to dethrone Stephanie when the time is right! The actual action between Vaquer and Rodriguez was pretty decent; both women have had really positive years, but there was only going to be one winner here! After Nikki Bella dealt with Perez, Vaquer nailed Rodriguez with her Spiral Tap to score another successful Title retention, before a “somewhat” shocking moment occurred post-match as Bella turned Heel on Vaquer! Let’s be honest, this was always going to happen, so at least it’s out of the way now!

After CM Punk made it clear to Adam Pearce that he wants Logan Paul and The Vision in WarGames, Shinsuke Nakamura and Sheamus were set to go one-on-one in another Last Time is Now First Round matchup! This was another match that it wasn’t clear who was going to come out victorious, meaning this was more intriguing to watch, but it was also another clash between two opponents that most likely won’t go all the way! Eventually, after a hard-fought battle, Sheamus was able to put Shinsuke down with a Brogue Kick, and we will now wait to see who The Celtic Warrior will face in the next round!

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair VS The Kabuki Warriors

After Adam Pearce announced the next two matches in The Last Time is Now Tournament (including a cracker between Gunther and Je’Von Evans), it was Main Event time as The Kabuki Warriors attempted to dethrone Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships! What I’ve liked about this feud is that it really has been a battle between two teams that are on the edge of breaking apart, whether that be a lack of trust between Alexa and Charlotte, or Asuka’s anger towards Kairi when she doesn’t do a very good job! That, plus the fact that this match was the Main Event, created an even more interesting angle as to which team was going to win, with their being arguments for both! Eventually, the result came down to outside interference, as Nia Jax and Lash Legend took out Alexa Bliss behind the referee’s back, leaving Flair vulnerable as Sane delivered her Insane Elbow to crown The Kabuki Warriors as 3-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions! After the match was over, Asuka, Sane, Jax, and Legend continued the beatdown on both Bliss and Flair before Iyo Sky ran down to try and make the save! More backup then came in the form of Rhea Ripley, with The Eradicator wiping everyone out before she declared war on the heels! That match could be quite good; it’s definitely risky, but at least we’ll get to see Iyo jump off the cage wearing a trash can!
