Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match

As expected, WWE Money in the Bank 2025 kicked off with the Women’s Ladder Match as Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia, and Roxanne Perez looked to put themselves one step closer to Championship glory! This was a decent start to the show, it had some good moments, I thought Giulia and Roxanne Perez were the standouts, they did a terrific job, and the interactions between Rhea, Alexa, and Stephanie were very cool! Unlike last year, this wasn’t a “car crash”, and that’s good in the sense that everyone was very safe, but it actually meant it wasn’t nearly as much of a spectacle as last year’s showpiece! I still enjoyed it, it was very cool to see three NXT Women’s Champions (of 2025) all in the same match on a major WWE Premium Live Event, and the other three women involved are all former World Champions! In the end, after it looked like it was going to come down to Ripley and Bliss, Naomi shoved both of them off the ladder and climbed it herself, unhooking the Briefcase to officially make her the new Miss Money in the Bank! When you turn Heel, you need to win something, so the fact that Naomi won this is a good thing!

Intercontinental Championship: Dominik Mysterio VS Octagon Jr

After getting into it at Worlds Collide, Octagon Jr had his second match of the day as he took on Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship! Whilst the idea of this was cool, I like when you need to have watched every show to understand what’s going on, but this was completely pointless! I think it was done to get a Triple A guy on the show, to also have a bunch of their other starts sitting on the front row, but all this did was make Octagon Jr not look great because Dominik breezed through this to get the win! I really don’t get it at all!

Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Lyra Valkyria VS Becky Lynch

It was then time for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship to be defended as Lyra Valkyria looked to wrap up her Rivalry with Becky Lynch once and for all! This was a good match, better then their bout at Backlash, both women are really good when they get going, and it was easy to watch! It was pretty clear that both women are very similar in terms of ability, I mean Becky’s a megastar, but Lyra in the ring is damn good! However, the one big difference between the two Irishwomen is one of them is willing to cheat, and Lynch took full advantage of that, holding Valkyria’s tights to get the win and become the brand-new Women’s Intercontinental Champion! After the match, Lyra Valkyria held up her end of the deal by lifting up Becky Lynch’s hand, but after Becky demanded Lyra put the Title on her, Valkyria delivered a German Suplex to stand tall! What is it with the loser of this feud standing tall at the end?

Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match

After Wade Barrett crunched the numbers, Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Solo Sikoa, LA Knight, Penta, Andrade, and El Grande Americano battled for the right to become Mr. Money in the Bank! This was definitely a better Ladder Match than the Women’s, it was more chaotic, there were more high-risk spots, and it was overall more enjoyable! I thought Andrade was amazing, he is so damn underrated, Penta pulled out a couple of ridiculous moves onto ladders, like they looked painful, and El Grande Americano is awesome! Like seriously, I continue to be impressed by him! Towards the end of the match, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed arrived to wreak havoc, but they got met by The Bloodline, leaving Solo Sikoa a clear path to the MITB Briefcase! However, Jacob Fatu then turned on his family member, costing Solo a chance at glory before the final battle came down to LA Knight and Seth “Freakin” Rollins, with Seth fighting him off to take victory! Seth winning here was obvious, but let’s be honest, he was the only choice here (especially after Sikoa got taken out)!

Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes VS John Cena and Logan Paul

And in the Main Event of this year’s Money in the Bank, Cody Rhodes teamed up with the World Heavyweight Champion “Main Event” Jey Uso to take on the duo of Logan Paul and the WWE Champion, John Cena! This started off slow, it was basically the Heels working over Jey Uso, but the problem was John and Logan weren’t exactly on the same page, allowing Cody to get back into the fight! I think the thing that stood out to me the most here was this match had the WWE Champion VS the World Heavyweight Champion, like you cannot get bigger then that in WWE, and yet this didn’t feel like a big deal! I mean, whether that’s because of the match or the current Title reigns of the Champions as a whole is unclear, but it was something I realised midway through thinking about some of the recent World Champions (I.e. Roman Reigns, Gunther, Seth “Freakin” Rollins)! Anyway, the match did get better over time, and the standout was Logan Paul, hitting a ridiculous Moonsault to crash Jey Uso through a table whilst also doing this amazing POV spot with a drone! At the end of the match, it looked like John Cena was going to win again by nailing Cody Rhodes with the WWE Title, but this is when a returning R-Truth arrived and beat up Cena, opening the door for Cody to hit a Cross Rhodes to get the win! Fair play to WWE, they listened to the crowd, but Truth has to be serious going forward if he’s going to be involved in the World Title scene!
