Seth “Freakin” Rollins and Bron Breakker VS CM Punk and Sami Zayn

May’s edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event kicked off with Seth “Freakin” Rollins and Bron Breakker having their first match together as they took on the duo of CM Punk and Sami Zayn! This was a decent start to the show, all four guys are major players on Monday Nights, so this was good to watch! There was definitely more cohesion between Seth and Bron, but that’s honestly a good thing, and I still thought Punk and Sami worked well together! Towards the end of the match, Paul Heyman distracted the referee by tripping over Zayn, and this distracted the referee, opening the door for Bronson Reed to make a shock return and send CM Punk crashing through the barricade! This then led to Bron Breakker nailing Sami Zayn with a Spear to get the win before Reed was embraced by Rollins, showing a brand-new alliance has been formed! Bronson then delivered a TSUNAMI to Punk to close out the segment, and my goodness me, this faction should never lose!

Women’s United States Championship: Zelina Vega VS Chelsea Green

After a backstage promo, Chelsea Green was more than ready to recapture her Women’s United States Championship off of Zelina Vega! WWE have been saying that Zelina Vega is having a good Title reign, but this was her first defense! Also, Zelina hasn’t been impressive since she won the Women’s US Title, she just hasn’t, and the crowd were pretty flat for this! Vega also slipped whilst trying to deliver a 619, and then she just won after she delivered a super Code Red to Ms. Green! This was entirely missable!

John Cena VS R-Truth

In what is probably the most ridiculous match of the year, R-Truth faced his Childhood Hero John Cena in a non-Title match! Truth came out as “Ron Cena”, and he just delivered all of John’s moves! Because of this, both guys were just copying each other, but honestly, it was fun! It was totally harmless, it made sense to be on a show like this, and Truth hitting an AA for a near-fall was very funny! After the referee took the Undisputed WWE Championship away from Cena, John took advantage and nailed Truth with a low blow before he hit his own AA to get the win! The more notable part came after the match as Cena had an interesting backstage interaction with Jey Uso (keep note of that)!
Grade: B-
Drew McIntyre VS Damian Priest: Steel Cage Match

In what was seemingly being built up as the biggest match of the night, Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest collided inside of a Steel Cage! This was probably the match of the night in terms of quality, it was hard-hitting, it felt like a bigger deal than anything else on the show, and I appreciated that they never tried (and failed) to escape the cage, they just went at each other! Drew kicked out of a South of Heaven whilst Damian kicked out of a Claymore, and this really could’ve gone either way! However, after a second South of Heaven, Priest decided to end McIntyre with a conchairto before he just left the cage to win the match! From a character perspective, it’s very interesting that Damian Priest wouldn’t pin Drew McIntyre, but I’m not against it, I’m happy that Priest won!
Grade: B
World Heavyweight Championship: Jey Uso VS Logan Paul

And in the Main Event of Saturday Night’s Main Event, Jey Uso went one-on-one with Logan Paul with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line! This match mostly took part in the ad breaks, we really didn’t get much action, with Logan Paul coming close to winning with One Lucky Punch! Jey then delivered a Spear, but the referee was pulled out of the ring by John Cena as Cena tried his best to ruin wrestling by helping Logan become Champion! However, this brought out a returning Cody Rhodes who wiped out Cena before Uso delivered a Spear and an Uso Splash to Paul to get the win and retain his Title! After the match was done, Cody Rhodes challenged Cena and Paul to a Tag Team Match for Money in the Bank, and that should be interesting!
