Brighton 5-0 Crystal Palace

Brighton and Hove Albion’s rampant run of form continued with a 5-goal demolition of rivals Crystal Palace! After just 4 minutes, Brighton already found themselves in front after Jaydee Canvot decided to head the ball into the back of his own net! In the 7th minute, Brighton had a second courtesy of a ridiculous halfway-line goal from Diego Gomez, before Yasin Ayari made it 3-0 just 3 minutes later (after his effort took a deflection off Canvot)! 4 minutes into the second half, it was 4-0 as Charalampos Kostoulas found the back of the net, before Jean-Philippe Mateta struck the crossbar! And then, in the 84th minute, Jack Hinshelwood was there to make it 5-0 on the rebound! Overall, there’s just no stopping Brighton and Hove Albion right now! The Seagulls remain third in the league, and their next week sees them face away trips to both Jablonec and Liverpool! As for Crystal Palace, this was awful! The Eagles drop to 14th in the table, and they’ll head to Turkiye to take on Beşiktaş in the Europa League on Thursday, before they host Newcastle in their next league game!

Manchester City 3-2 Ipswich

Erling Haaland scored once again as Manchester City continued their perfect Premier League start under Enzo Maresca! After 19 minutes, Manchester City already found themselves in front as Phil Foden finally got his goal! I have to say, I’m not sure this was particularly good goalkeeping by Christian Walton! Anyway, just 2 minutes later, Ipswich were already back on level terms as Daizen Maeda finished well! In the 34th minute, Man City were back in front as Erling Haaland headed home following a great bit of play by Mateo Kovacic, but once again, Walton should’ve done better! In the 69th minute, Haaland made it 3-1 with a really powerful goal, before the main man had his hat-trick goal ruled out due to Enzo Fernandez being in an offside position during the build-up! Ipswich would then be awarded a penalty after Marc Guehi brought down Abdul Fatawu, which Zian Flemming would successfully convert! However, it didn’t end up affecting the result! Overall, Manchester City have now got 7 wins from 7 in the Premier League under Enzo Maresca! City remain top of the league, and they’re set to host AEK Athens in the Champions League tonight, before they head to Aston Villa this Saturday! As for Ipswich Town, they put up a decent fight here! The Tractor Boys remain 10th in the table, and they’ll host Nottingham Forest next time out!

Tottenham 3-1 Coventry

3 goals were finally enough for Tottenham Hotspur to pick up their first victory of the season over Coventry City! Jan Paul van Hecke pulled off a good block early on to keep Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s effort out, before Tottenham found themselves in front inside 14 minutes thanks to a great strike by James Maddison! Just 4 minutes into the second half, though, Coventry were back on level terms as Jack Rudoni somehow managed to guide the ball past Antonin Kinsky! Sandro Tonali then blasted a couple of decent opportunities over the bar, before Tottenham found themselves back in front in the 58th minute courtesy of Omar Marmoush! And then, in the 96th minute, Ben Davies scored to seal all 3 points for Spurs! Overall, Tottenham Hotspur finally have a win! Spurs rise to 16th place, and their next game sees them head to Chelsea for a big London Derby! As for Coventry City, their goalkeeper wasn’t good enough in this game! The Sky Blues drop to 17th in the table, and they’ll host Fulham in a big game next time out!

Brentford 1-2 Liverpool

A pair of Red cards helped Liverpool hand Brentford their first defeat of the season! Bradley Barcola found himself in one-on-one early on, but he poorly missed the target completely, before the referee awarded Liverpool a penalty, only for VAR to rightly overturn it! In the 44th minute, Brentford would be the ones to strike first as Keane Lewis-Potter headed home brilliantly! However, just before halftime, Yehor Yarmoliuk was shown a straight Red card for violent conduct, which I honestly find to be laughable! In the 62nd minute, Liverpool were back on level terms through Victor Munoz, before Alexander Isak fired the visitors in front with 20 minutes to go! Igor Thiago then wasted a potential golden opportunity to rescue a point for Brentford, before Barcola’s effort came back out off the crossbar! And then, in the 92nd minute, things got even worse for Brentford as Vitaly Janelt was also sent off for a second bookable offence! In the end, Brentford didn’t handle things (when they took the lead) well whatsoever! The Bees drop to 6th in the table, and they’ll look to bounce back in Hull next time out! As for Liverpool, this is a good win for them! The Reds rise to 5th in the league, and they’re hosting Villarreal tonight ahead of a big-league clash against Brighton on Sunday!

Everton 0-2 Chelsea

Everton’s unbeaten start to the season finally came to an end as Chelsea picked up a crucial away win/clean sheet combo! Thierno Barry had a great chance to give Everton the lead early on, but he could only head the ball straight at Emi Martinez, before Martinez was needed to make an important finger-tip save to deny Jack Grealish! Moises Caicedo was then unlucky as his volleyed effort came flying back out off the crossbar, before Chelsea would find themselves in front 45 seconds into the second half through Pedro Neto! Jordan Pickford needs to be saving this! After a worrying injury for Emi Martinez, Chelsea would have all 3 points secured in the 90th minute as Neto scored again! In the end, Everton simply weren’t good enough to get anything from this game! The Toffees drop to 8th in the table, and their next game sees them head to Arsenal on Saturday! As for Chelsea, this is a much bigger result than people will give them credit for! The Blues rise to 4th in the league, and they’ll host Tottenham in a key London Derby next time out!

Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Marco Rose could finally celebrate his first Premier League victory as AFC Bournemouth coasted to all 3 points over a struggling AFC Sunderland! After just 6 minutes, Bournemouth already found themselves in front as Marcus Tavernier headed home following a brilliant bit of play by Evanilson! A terrible mistake by Kevin Danso would then result in him being shown a straight Red card for the denial of a clear-goal scoring opportunity, before Adam Smith missed a great chance on the rebound after Robin Roefs initially kept Rayan’s effort out! Just 3 minutes into the second half, Bournemouth would have their second goal as Evanilson doubled the hosts’ advantage! What on earth are Sunderland doing at the back?! Bournemouth would then create more chances to further extend their lead, but they were unable to find the back of the net again! Overall, finally, a Premier League win for Marco Rose’s AFC Bournemouth! The Cherries rise to 15th in the table, and they have a historic game set for Thursday when they host AC Milan in the Europa League, before they travel to Manchester United for their next league game! As for Sunderland AFC, they’re a complete mess right now! The Black Cats now find themselves bottom of the league, and their next week is a big one with games against Lech Poznan (A) and Leeds (H)!

Leeds 1-1 Manchester United

Senne Lammens was forced into making a decent save in the first half to push Nico Elvedi’s headed effort out, before Bryan Mbeumo headed wide from close range! However, in the 35th minute, Manchester United would find themselves in front as Mbeumo wouldn’t miss again! However, just 6 minutes into the second half, Leeds were back on level terms as Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised well! Harry Maguire was then incredibly lucky not to give away a penalty after he pulled Ethan Ampadu down in the box; this was definitely a penalty in my eyes, before Anton Stach wasted a good opportunity to win it for Leeds in stoppage time! In the end, this is nothing more than an okay point for Leeds United! The Whites stay 7th in the league, and they’ll head to Sunderland next time out! As for Manchester United, their winless run continues! United stay 13th in the table, and they’ll head to Como in the Champions League tomorrow, before they host Bournemouth in a must-win game this Sunday!

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Arsenal

A deflected goal was all Arsenal needed to sneak out of the City Ground with all 3 points over Nottingham Forest! David Raya made a good save early on to tip Dan Ndoye’s effort around the post, before Kai Havertz wasted a great opportunity to head Arsenal in front! In the second half, Declan Rice blasted the ball over from close range, before Arsenal would finally find themselves in front in the 80th minute as Noni Madueke’s effort took a massive deflection on its way in! Murillo then came close to scoring a sensational equaliser for Nottingham Forest, whilst both Chris Wood and Liam Delap also wasted good opportunities late on! In the end, Nottingham Forest will feel like they deserved something from this game! Forest now find themselves inside the Relegation Zone (in 19th), and they’ll head to Ipswich in what feels like a must-win game next time out! As for Arsenal, they got over the line… just! The Gunners remain second in the league, and they’ve got to play Bayern Munich tomorrow (at the Allianz Arena), before they host Everton on Saturday!

Newcastle 0-1 Aston Villa

Early on, Sven Botman was rather fortunate not to get sent off after a strong tackle on Nicolas Jackson, before Aston Villa would find themselves in front anyway in the 36th minute courtesy of Johan Manzambi! Where on earth was the Newcastle defence?! Just 2 minutes later, Emi Buendia struck the post for Villa, before Lukas Hornicek made a decent save in the second half to deny Ross Barkley! Ibrahim Mbaye then missed a great chance to seal all 3 points for the visitors, before Yoane Wissa wasted a great opportunity to equalise for Newcastle late on! In the end, it’s another disappointing result for Newcastle United! The Magpies stay 11th in the league, and they’ll head to Crystal Palace next time out! As for Aston Villa, they’re finally starting to build some momentum! Villa rise to 12th in the table, and they’ll host Viking in the Champions League tonight, before a big Saturday lunchtime game against Manchester City!

Fulham 1-0 Hull

A huge sigh of relief was drawn for Alvaro Arbeloa as his Fulham side picked up their first victory of the season at the expense of Hull City! After 33 minutes, Fulham found themselves in front as Alex Iwobi scored following a helpful deflection off Lucas Herrington! I also think that Konstantinos Tzolakis probably should’ve still been able to keep the ball out! Calvin Bassey then wasted a good opportunity to double Fulham’s lead; heading over from close range, before Tzolakis made a good second-half save to deny Josh King! Iwobi then had a golden chance to score again to kill the game off, but he poorly struck his effort straight at Tzolakis, before Gonzalo Garcia could only head the ball onto the crossbar, despite being just a few yards out! In stoppage time at the end of the game, Ryan Sessegnon would be sent off for a pretty poor challenge, and I honestly don’t understand why he felt the need to make this challenge! Anyway, overall, this is a much-needed win for Alvaro Arbeloa and Fulham! The Cottagers remain inside the Relegation Zone (now in 18th), and they’ve got another big game coming up away at Coventry! As for Hull City, their form is starting to drop! The Tigers stay 9th in the league, and they’ll host Brentford next time out!
