With my Season 12 Preview now out, it’s only fitting that I make some Predictions ahead of Season 12 of ABB FIA Formula E! Who do I have to win, which midfield driver do I expect to overperform, and who could be on their way out? I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see, given my record in these things!

P20: Pepe Marti

After performing well in the junior formulas, Pepe Marti is set to compete in his first-ever World Championship! The 20-year-old Spanish racing driver is driving for Cupra Kiro this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish was 2nd in the 2022 Formula Regional Asian Championship (behind Arthur Leclerc)! Pepe is also a multiple time winner in both FIA Formula 3 and FIA Formula 2! Marti is very much new to the world of Formula E, but he has good backing in the forms of both Red Bull Racing and Fernando Alonso! Unfortunately, whilst I do think that Pepe Marti is a good driver, he does have a tendency to struggle in his first season in a competitive Championship, and being a Rookie at a team like Cupra Kiro isn’t easy!
P19: Zane Maloney

After a difficult Rookie Season, Zane Maloney enters Year 2 of his life in Formula E aiming to finally score his maiden points! The 22-year-old Barbadian racing driver is driving for Lola Yamaha ABT this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2019 British F4 Championship! When it comes to Formula E, Maloney has competed in 1-full season, but he’s still yet to score a single point, finishing 24th in last year’s standings! Ultimately, as good as Zane Maloney was in both Formula 3 and Formula 2, last year didn’t go well at all for “The Boy from Barbados”, so it’s going to be difficult for him to climb up too high in the order!
P18: Joel Eriksson

After years of being on the sidelines, Joel Eriksson is finally getting a full-time drive in Formula E! The 27-year-old Swedish racing driver is driving for Envision Racing this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish was second in the 2015 ADAC Formula 4 and 2017 FIA Formula 3 European Championships (with his F3 campaign seeing him finish behind a certain Lando Norris)! Joel certainly isn’t a stranger to Formula E machinery, having first competed in the Rookie Test all the way back in 2018, whilst he’s also competed in 10 E-Prix’s in the past, scoring 3 points! The fact that Joel Eriksson has driven in Formula E before means he has a much better platform to build from than other Rookies around him/in the past! However, having said that, I’m not sure Eriksson is really good enough to score consistent points for Mahindra!
P17: Lucas di Grassi

Even though he may be the “father figure” of the series, that doesn’t mean that Lucas di Grassi is going to enjoy a particularly fun season! The 41-year-old Brazilian racing driver is driving for Lola Yamaha ABT this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won Season 3 of ABB FIA Formula E! When it comes to Formula E, di Grassi has competed in every single season, winning 13 Races and 1 Championship Title! Having said that, the entire Gen3 Era has been a major struggle for Lucas di Grassi; he’s scored just 68 points in the last 3 seasons, and I can see another difficult year for Lucas given he’s still with ABT!
P16: Norman Nato

Norman Nato enters Season 12 knowing he needs to perform in order to keep his Formula E career alive! The 33-year-old French racing driver is driving for Nissan Formula E Team this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish was second in both the 2010 F4 Eurocup 1.6 and 2012 Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Championships! When it comes to Formula E, Nato has competed in 5 seasons, winning 1 Race (Berlin 2021), and his highest Championship finish in the series was P10 back in Season 9 (2023)! Ultimately, whilst Norman Nato was pretty horrendous last year, I do expect him to do better in Season 12! However, having said that, I still expect Norman to be pretty poor in comparison to his teammate!
P15: Nico Muller

After a slow year at Andretti, Nico Muller has somehow found himself getting a promotion to Porsche! The 33-year-old Swiss racing driver is driving for Porsche Formula E Team this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2009 Swiss Formula Renault 2.0 Title! When it comes to Formula E, Muller has appeared in 5 seasons, scoring 1 Podium (Valencia 2022), and his highest Championship finish in the series was 12th back in 2024 (Season 10)! Nico Muller was comprehensively beaten by Jake Dennis at Andretti last year, but despite that, he now finds himself driving for the reigning Teams’ Champions! This whole situation baffles me completely, and I can’t see Nico lasting long!
P14: Dan Ticktum

Dan Ticktum enters Season 12 looking to build on by far his best year in Formula E to date! The 26-year-old British racing driver is driving for Cupra Kiro this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he finished second in the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship (behind Mick Schumacher)! When it comes to Formula E, Ticktum has competed in 4 different seasons, winning 1 Race (Jakarta 2025), and his highest Championship finish in the series was P11 in Season 11 (earlier this year)! Dan Ticktum very much punched above his and Cupra Kiro’s weight last year, finishing in the points more times than not is very impressive, but I do have Dan dropping down a couple of places this year, simply because I feel like certain drivers/teams he beat last season will do better in Season 12! Still, Ticktum will easily outshine his teammate!
P13: Sebastien Buemi

Sebastien Buemi knows he will need to perform on a high level to give Envision Racing the best chance at success! The 37-year-old Swiss racing driver is driving for Envision Racing this season, and his highest-ever Championship finishes came when he won Season 2 of ABB FIA Formula E, whilst he’s also a 5-time World Endurance Champion! When it comes to Formula E, Buemi has competed in every season of Formula E, winning 14 E-Prix’s, and a Championship Title back in 2016! Sebastien Buemi has finished 11th and 12th in the last two Formula E seasons, so this feels like I should be in the right ballpark come London 2026! Ultimately, Buemi will easily be Envision’s Number 1, but I’m not convinced that he’ll get more than a couple of Podiums!
P12: Felipe Drugovich

Finally, Felipe Drugovich has a full-time drive again! The 25-year-old Brazilian racing driver is driving for Andretti Formula E this season, and his highest-ever Championship finishes came when he won the 2017-18 MRF Challenge Formula 2000 and 2018 Euroformula Open Championships, as well as the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship! In fact, Drugo managed to win those 3 Titles by a combined total of 341 points (which is utterly out of this world)! Drugovich isn’t exactly a stranger to Formula E, having topped multiple Rookie Tests in the past, whilst he also scored points on his debut Race Weekend in Berlin earlier this year (finishing 7th)! The thing is, I rate Felipe Drugovich incredibly highly; I think he’s super talented, and he should be a contender in a similar way to how Taylor Barnard was in his debut season earlier this year! However, the Andretti second-seat curse is real, and I’m respecting that by putting Felipe down in 12th (only time will tell how Drugo performs in comparison to Jake Dennis)!
P11: Maximilian Gunther

Maximilian Gunther needs to showcase more consistency in order to finish higher up in the standings! The 28-year-old German-Austrian racing driver is driving for DS Penske this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he finished second in the 2011 Formula Renault BMW Cup, the 2013 and 2014 ADAC Formel Masters, and the 2016 FIA Formula 3 European Championship (ahead of George Russell, but behind a certain Lance Stroll)! When it comes to Formula E, Gunther has competed in 7 seasons, winning 7 Races, and his highest Championship finish in the series was P7 back in 2023 (Season 9)! The problem with Max Gunther is you never know how he’s going to perform; he’s capable of running away and winning comfortably, but he also suffers quite a few DNFs! Because of that, I can’t put Gunther anywhere other than in the midfield (he will win a Race, though)!
P10: Edoardo Mortara

After Mahindra’s best season in years, Edoardo Mortara is once again aiming for multiple Podium finishes! The 38-year-old Swiss-Italian-French racing driver is driving for Mahindra Racing this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2010 Formula 3 Euro Series! When it comes to Formula E, Mortara has driven in the series for 8 years, winning 6 Races, whilst his highest Championship finish in the series was second back in 2021 (Season 7)! Edoardo Mortara is a good racing driver; he performed well last year, and I have to do better this season, given I predicted him 10 places lower than where he actually finished in Season 11! I think it’s going to be another fascinating battle as to which Mahindra driver comes out on top in their teammate head-to-head, and whilst I have Edo Mortara to come out second best, it will be very close!
P9: Nyck de Vries

After 3 second-place finishes in 2025, Nyck de Vries is hoping to deliver Mahindra their first victory since 2021! The 30-year-old Dutch racing driver is driving for Mahinda Racing this season, and his highest-ever Championship finishes came when he won both the 2014 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Titles, the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship, and he was also crowned as the inaugural Formula E World Champion back in 2021 (Season 7)! When it comes to Formula E, de Vries has competed in 5 seasons, winning 4 E-Prix’s and a World Championship Title! Nyck de Vries definitely found his form again in Season 11; it was wonderful to see, and he could well finish higher than 9th! Honestly, I’m very torn with a number of drivers between 11th to 6th, but at least I’ll stick with de Vries beating Mortara again!
P8: Nick Cassidy
After going back-to-back-to-back (in terms of Race Wins) to end his time at Jaguar, Nick Cassidy is set for a new adventure at the newly rebranded Citroen! The 31-year-old New Zealand racing driver is driving for Citroen Racing this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2012 and 2013 Toyota Racing Series, the 2015 Japanese Formula 3 Championship, the 2017 Super GT Title, and the 2018 Japanese Super Formula Championship! Quite the resume! When it comes to Formula E, Cassidy has driven for 5 seasons, winning 11 E-Prix’s, and his highest Championship finish in the series was second back in 2023 (Season 9)! It’s crazy that this is the first time since Season 9 that I haven’t predicted Nick Cassidy to win the Formula E Title, and honestly, that might be a blessing for him! The problem is it’s so unclear as to how good Citroen are going to be, because this team (as Maserati MSG Racing) have been pretty disappointing the last couple of years! I can still see Cassidy winning a Race in 2026, but it’s hard to truly know where to put him!

P7: Jean-Eric Vergne
For the first time since Season 1, Jean-Eric Vergne competes in Formula E with nothing to do with either DS or Techeetah! The 35-year-old French racing driver is driving for Citroen Racing this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2010 British Formula 3 Championship, as well as Season 4 and Season 5 of ABB FIA Formula E! When it comes to Formula E, Vergne is one of the originals, winning 11 Races, whilst he’s also the only 2-time Formula E Champion in the series history! Like I just said previously, it’s very hard to predict either Vergne or Cassidy simply because it’s so unclear as to what kind of package Citroen will deliver! However, I am picking Jean-Eric Vergne to outscore his teammate simply because JEV is damn good at scoring points consistently, something that’s perfect for teams like this!
P6: Jake Dennis

Jake Dennis is very much hoping for a better performing Andretti car! The 30-year-old British racing driver is driving for Andretti Formula E this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2012 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC Title before he was crowned as Formula E World Champion back in Season 9! When it comes to Formula E, Dennis has driven in the series for 5 seasons now, winning 6 Races and 1 World Championship (2023)! Jake Dennis is a very strong driver, one of the best in Formula E (in my opinion), but Andretti haven’t been good enough the past couple of years, meaning I can’t put Jake any higher!
P5: Taylor Barnard

After an incredible Rookie Season, Taylor Barnard is looking to fight for the Championship in his first year at DS Penske! The 21-year-old British racing driver is driving for DS Penske this season, and his highest-ever Championship finishes were second in the 2022 ADAC Formula 4 Series as well as both the 2023 and 2024 Formula Regional Middle East Championships (2 of those 3 Championships saw Taylor finish behind Andrea Kimi Antonelli)! When it comes to Formula E, Barnard has competed in 19 E-Prix’s, scoring 5 Podiums, whilst his highest Championship finish in the series was 4th in 2025! Without a doubt, Taylor Barnard is great! He’s quick, he’s talented, and he has all the tools to become a World Champion! However, DS Penske haven’t been able to deliver a Championship-winning car for years, so for now, Barnard will have to be patient (he should, however, secure his maiden FE win)!
P4: Oliver Rowland

Oliver Rowland is next up to try and break the Formula E World Champions curse! The 33-year-old British racing driver is driving for Nissan Formula E Team this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2015 Formula Renault 3.5 Series Title as well as last season’s ABB FIA Formula E Championship! When it comes to Formula E, Rowland has competed in 7 seasons, winning 7 Races, and 1 World Championship (in Season 11)! Oliver Rowland is easily going to be Nissan’s Number 1 driver this year, and he’s coming off the back of 2 great seasons! However, as always, it’s so difficult to win back-to-back Formula E Titles; in fact, it’s basically impossible (with the only time it happened coming with 2 different eras of cars), so I can’t see Ollie Rowland winning it again!
P3: Antonio Felix da Costa

Antonio Felix da Costa is hoping that his move to Jaguar will result in a return to Championship glory! The 34-year-old Portuguese racing driver is driving for Jaguar TCS Racing this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2009 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC Title, Season 6 of ABB FIA Formula E (in 2020), and the 2022 World Endurance Championship! When it comes to Formula E, da Costa has competed in all 11 seasons, winning 12 E-Prix’s, and 1 Championship Title (back in Season 6)! Antonio Felix da Costa is such a good well-rounded driver; like it’s honestly amazing that he’s not achieved even more success in motorsport (which is saying something)! I think the move to Jaguar should only boost da Costa’s chances of winning again, but for me, he’ll come up just short this year!
P2: Mitch Evans

After a lacklustre 2025, I fully expect Mitch Evans to bounce right back into Title contention! The 31-year-old New Zealand racing driver is driving for Jaguar TCS Racing this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won both the 2010 and 2011 Toyota Racing Series as well as the 2012 GP3 Series Championship! When it comes to Formula E, Evans has driven 9 seasons in the series, winning 14 Races, whilst his highest Championship finish in the series was second in both 2022 (Season 8) and 2024 (Season 10)! Season 11 was pretty rough for Mitch Evans, but in fairness, you could say the same for most of Jaguar TCS Racing’s campaign! However, having said that, both Evans and Jaguar did have a much better end to their 2025 campaigns, so I can see Mitch fighting his way back into Championship contention once again!
P1: Pascal Wehrlein

After the best performance from a reigning Champion in years, I’m backing Pascal Wehrlein to recapture his crown and become a 2-time ABB FIA Formula E World Champion! The 31-year-old German racing driver is driving for Porsche Formula E Team this season, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2011 ADAC Formel Masters, the 2015 DTM Title, and the 2024 Formula E World Championship (Season 10)! When it comes to Formula E, Wehrlein has raced in 7 seasons, winning 8 Races and a World Championship (not bad)! I think Pascal Wehrlein is the best driver in Formula E, he’s been so strong in the Gen3 Era, and now that he’s no longer racing with the Number 1, I think Pascal will become only the second-ever 2-time FE Champion!
