After failing to score a single point so far this season, Mitch Evans finally got his campaign up and running with a brilliant victory in Miami! With the rain coming down, Jaguar TCS Racing were starting to look good, with both Antonio Felix da Costa and Mitch Evans running in the Top 7! Not only would Mitch show a strong amount of pace to carve through the field, but what impressed me the most was his Race-winning overtake on Nico Muller! See, not only was it executed superbly, but Evans wasn’t even in Attack Mode, meaning this was a legitimate overtake! Fantastic stuff from The Kiwi, and it’s going to be interesting to see how Mitch gets on moving forward!

Loser: Nick Cassidy

Nick Cassidy came into the weekend as the Championship leader, having appeared on the Podium in each of his first two weekends for Citroen, but this weekend couldn’t have gone much worse! Despite winning last time out, Nick seemingly had no pace in the rain, finishing all the way down in P16, a lap down on winner Evans! Citroen as a whole were awful this weekend, with Jean-Eric Vergne finishing only one place higher in 15th, but the one saving grace for this team’s weekend is that Cassidy still remains as the Championship leader!

Winners: Porsche

After back-to-back double points finishes to start the season, Porsche Formula E Team stepped up to another level with a double Podium appearance in Miami! Nico Muller started the day off on the right note, achieving the first Pole Position of his Formula E career, whilst Muller kept the pace up throughout the Race to achieve the second Podium of his FE career! As for his teammate, Pascal Wehrlein did a great job to climb up from 11th to 3rd, with the German driver showing signs of what made him Champion back in Season 10! Porsche leave the weekend first in the Teams’ Championship, and that’s definitely a nice place to be!

Losers: Nissan

Talk about bad, Nissan had an absolute meh! Oliver Rowland, who is usually so consistently strong, seemingly had no pace in the wet, coming home a disappointing 12th, whilst Norman Nato is just slow, finishing a lap down! Nissan clearly didn’t want the rain to come, but let’s be honest, they should’ve been ready regardless!

Winners: Mahindra Racing

Another team that ran well in the wet version of the Sunshine State was Mahindra Racing! It was a tale of two halves in Qualifying, with Nyck de Vries making it to the Semi-Finals of the Duels, whilst Edoardo Mortara had to start from all the way down in P16! Mahindra then pulled the smart move of utilising an early Attack Mode strategy with de Vries, a move that served the Season 7 Champion well! Unfortunately for Nyck, he didn’t quite have enough pace to remain in the Podium places, but it was still a good day for Mahindra overall as Edoardo Mortara climbed all the way up into P6, just one place behind his teammate! I would never have expected that these two would’ve ended the Race on the same part of the track, given how the weekend started, but 18 points is a good haul of points for Mahindra Racing!

Loser: Felipe Drugovich

Once again, it’s a case of what could’ve been for Felipe Drugovich! Felipe had an amazing Qualifying to end up on the Front Row, miles clear of his experienced Andretti teammate Jake Dennis! Felipe was then looking pretty strong early on, leading on the “proper” opening lap of the E-Prix, and strong points very much looked set in stone for the young Brazilian! Unfortunately, though, Drugovich made a poor misjudgement that resulted in him wiping through the back of Antonio Felix da Costa, an incident that resulted in a 10-second time penalty! On top of that, Drugo’s car was also pretty damaged, meaning it’s now 3 pointless weekends from 3 for the former Formula 2 Champion! Sad times!

Winner: Joel Eriksson

I have to say, I’ve been very impressed with Joel Eriksson! Joel Eriksson’s previous performances in Formula E weren’t the best, meaning Envision Racing’s decision to sign him to a permanent seat for Season 12 wasn’t the most exciting of decisions! However, not only did Joel score points in the opening round in Sao Paulo, but he drove a fantastic E-Prix in Miami yesterday, coming home in a brilliant 4th place! For me, Joel Eriksson was the driver of the day this weekend; I thought he did brilliantly!
