Arsenal 4-1 Aston Villa

Aston Villa’s momentum was very much halted as Arsenal continue to be the team to catch! Ollie Watkins had a really good opportunity to give Aston Villa the lead early on, but he poorly dragged his effort wide, before Viktor Gyokeres headed wide from close range! 3 minutes into the second half, Arsenal found themselves in front as Gabriel scored after a weak goalkeeping error by Emi Martinez! Martin Zubimendi then made it 2-0 just 4 minutes later, before Leandro Trossard added a third in the 69th minute (after more errors from Aston Villa)! In the 78th minute, Gabriel Jesus added a fourth for the hosts, before John McGinn somehow managed to strike the ball straight at David Raya, just moments after Watkins' headed effort came back out off the post! Eventually, Villa would manage to at least get one goal through Ollie Watkins, but it was nothing more than a slight consolation! Overall, this is a big result for Arsenal! The Gunners remain top of the league, and their first game of 2026 is away at Bournemouth tomorrow! As for Aston Villa, this game went completely wrong for them! Villa stay third in the table, and they host Nottingham Forest next time out!

Burnley 1-3 Newcastle

After less than 90 seconds, Newcastle already had the lead as Joelinton finished superbly! In the 7th minute, Newcastle were 2 in front as Yoane Wissa scored after Bruno Guimaraes clearly shoved Josh Laurent! Somehow, that wasn’t ruled as a foul, meaning the goal stood! In the 23rd minute, Burnley did have one back thanks to a great finish by Josh Laurent, before Fabian Schar pulled off a key goal-line clearance to deny Marcus Edwards an equalising goal! In the second half, Laurent came close again, this time hitting the crossbar, before Bashir Humphreys pulled off a good goal-line clearance of his own down at the other end! But then, after a terrible mistake by Martin Dubravka, Bruno Guimaraes finished well to seal all 3 points for the visitors! In the end, it’s another defeat for Burnley! The Clarets remain inside the Relegation Zone (in 19th), and they head to Brighton tomorrow! As for Newcastle United, they got the win that they needed! The Magpies now find themselves 13th in the league, and they host Crystal Palace next time out!

Chelsea 2-2 Bournemouth

Chelsea dropped more points as AFC Bournemouth’s winless run continued! Despite a couple of saves from Robert Sanchez, David Brooks was finally able to get the ball across the line to give Bournemouth the lead inside 6 minutes! However, Chelsea were then awarded a penalty as Estevao was brought down by Antoine Semenyo, leading to Cole Palmer equalising from 12 yards out! Brooks then had a great chance to add his second goal of the game soon after, but he couldn’t guide his effort past Sanchez, before Chelsea found themselves in front in the 23rd minute courtesy of a top-corner strike by Enzo Fernandez! Despite that, just 4 minutes later, Bournemouth were back on level terms as Justin Kluivert was there to tap home at the back post! In the second half, Fernandez had another chance to score, but this time he wasn’t able to keep his effort down, before Enes Unal missed a great chance to win the game for Bournemouth in stoppage time! In the end, this actually proved to be Enzo Maresca’s last game in charge of Chelsea! The Blues stay 5th in the league, and their first game of 2026 is a big one away at Manchester City! As for AFC Bournemouth, it’s now 10 games without a win for them! The Cherries remain 15th in the table, and they host Arsenal next time out!

West Ham 2-2 Brighton

After just 10 minutes, West Ham already found themselves in front as Jarrod Bowen slotted his effort past Bart Verbruggen! However, after Max Kilman brought down Yankuba Minteh, Danny Welbeck stepped up and scored from 12 yards out to level the game at 1-1! Then, after Lucas Paqueta wrestled Lewis Dunk to the ground, Welbeck had another penalty opportunity, but this time he shockingly panenka’d the ball onto the crossbar! What an absolute mess! A third penalty was then awarded after the ball struck the arm of Lews Dunk, and this led to Lucas Paqueta converting his spot-kick successfully to send West Ham into the break ahead! But then, after a weak bit of goalkeeping by Alphonse Areola, Joel Veltman equalised for Brighton in the 61st minute! Bart Verbruggen then made a good save to keep Jarrod Bowen’s headed effort out, before Areola denied Kaoru Mitoma a winning goal! In the end, West Ham’s winless run shows no signs of stopping! The Hammers remain inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th), and they head to Wolves tomorrow for what is an absolutely huge game in the fight for survival! As for Brighton and Hove Albion, they’ve dropped points yet again! The Seagulls drop to 14th in the table, and they host Burnley next time out!

Nottingham Forest 0-2 Everton

After just 19 minutes, Everton had the lead as James Garner scored via a really nice finish! In the second half, Igor Jesus had a great chance to equalise, but he could only guide his effort just wide of the post, before James Tarkowski somehow managed to miss a sitter from just a couple of yards out! And then, in the 79th minute, after a great bit of play by James Garner, Thierno Barry finished well to seal all 3 points for the visitors! In the end, this is a really poor result as far as Nottingham Forest are concerned! Forest stay 17th in the table, and they head to Aston Villa tomorrow! As for Everton, this was a much-needed win for them! The Toffees rise to 8th in the league, and they host Brentford next time out!

Manchester United 1-1 Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers finally managed to stop losing as they earned a point against a shambolic Manchester United! After 27 minutes, Manchester United had the lead as Joshua Zirkzee scored following a fortunate deflection off Ladislav Krejci! Benjamin Sesko then came close as his headed effort came back out off the post, before Senne Lammens made a good save to deny Hugo Bueno! In the 45th minute, Ladislav Krejci made up for his earlier deflection by heading home to send Wolves into the break on level terms! In the second half, Sesko had a great chance to score, but he poorly headed the ball straight at Jose Sa, before Sa pulled out a brilliant bit of goalkeeping to stop Yerson Mosquera from scoring an own goal! Krejci then had another good chance to score, but this time his effort was saved by Lammens, before Patrick Dorgu thought he’d won it for Man United at the end, only for his goal to be ruled out for offside! In the end, this an embarrassing result for Manchester United! United stay 6th in the table, and they head to Leeds next time out! As for Wolverhampton Wanderers, at least they didn’t lose! Wolves remain bottom of the league, and they host West Ham tomorrow in what is potentially their best chance to win a game all season long!

Crystal Palace 1-1 Fulham

Crystal Palace came close to taking the lead early on, with Bernd Leno making a good save to keep Marc Guehi’s effort out, before Crystal Palace would have the lead in the 39th minute through Jean-Philippe Mateta! The assist from Nathaniel Clyne was top draw! In the second half, Raul Jimenez came close as he headed the ball onto the post, before Bernd Leno was forced to tip the ball onto his own crossbar! In the 80th minute, Fulham were back on level terms thanks to a great strike from Tom Cairney! Fulham then had huge opportunities to win the game right at the death, but neither Timothy Castagne nor Joachim Andersen were able to find the back of the net! In the end, it’s another game without a win for Crystal Palace! The Eagles drop to 10th in the league, and they head to Newcastle next time out! As for Fulham, they could’ve (and maybe should’ve) won this game! The Cottagers now sit 11th in the table, and their first home game of 2026 sees them take on Liverpool this Sunday!

Sunderland 0-0 Manchester City

Sunderland AFC’s unbeaten home run remained intact as Manchester City just couldn’t find that all-important goal! Bernardo Silva thought he’d given Manchester City the lead early on, but his effort was rightly ruled out for a tight offside, before Gianluigi Donnarumma made a decent save to stop Brian Brobbey from giving Sunderland the lead! Erling Haaland then had his first chance to score, but he could only direct his effort straight at Robin Roefs, before Trai Hume failed to keep his headed effort down! Early in the second half, Savinho had a golden opportunity to give Manchester City the lead, but he poorly blasted his effort well over the bar, before Savinho had another good chance which was kept out by Roefs! Eliezer Mayenda then had a great chance to give Sunderland the lead, but his effort was kept out well by Donnarumma, before Robin Roefs made another great save, this time to deny Josko Gvardiol! Sunderland then continued to make brilliant defensive blocks to keep Man City off the scoresheet, before Gvardiol’s wonder effort could only strike the woodwork! In the end, Sunderland AFC will be very happy with a point from this game! The Black Cats remain 7th in the table, and they head to Tottenham next time out! As for Manchester City, I can’t believe they didn’t score in this game! City stay second in the league, and their next game is a big one at home against Chelsea!

Liverpool 0-0 Leeds

Liverpool’s winning run came to an end as Leeds United’s strong unbeaten run continued! After Liverpool missed multiple chances early on, a poor pass from Alisson gifted Ethan Ampadu the opportunity to score, but he couldn’t guide his effort far enough away from the Brazilian Goalkeeper! Hugo Ekitike then had a great chance to score, but he just wasn’t able to react quickly enough to guide his headed effort on target, before Virgil van Dijk missed a good opportunity in the second half! Leeds then thought they’d potentially snatched it through star-man Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but his goal was unfortunately (for him) ruled out for offside! In the end, Liverpool weren’t clinical enough here! The Reds stay 4th in the league, and they head to Fulham next time out! As for Leeds United, it’s another positive result for them! The Whites remain 16th in the table, and their first home game of 2026 is a big one against Manchester United!

Brentford 0-0 Tottenham

Kevin Schade thought he’d given Brentford the lead inside 5 minutes, but his goal was rightly ruled out for offside! Nathan Collins then pulled out a key block to stop Archie Gray from heading Tottenham in front, before Keane Lewis-Potter had a great chance to score, but he couldn’t get a proper connection on his strike! Cristian Romero then probably should’ve been sent off after taking out Igor Thiago, but somehow, not even a foul was given, before Tottenham probably should’ve been awarded a penalty after Gray was brought down by multiple players! What are these refs doing?! Vitaly Janelt then had a good chance to give Brentford the lead, but his effort was saved well by Guglielmo Vicario! In the end, this isn’t a terrible point for Brentford! The Bees drop to 9th in the league, however, and they head to Everton on Sunday for what is actually quite a big game for both sides! As for Tottenham Hotspur, there wasn’t much to shout about for Thomas Frank on his return to the Gtech! Spurs drop to 12th in the table, and they host Sunderland next time out!
